X.400 is not supported out-of-the-box in R2. We do have some TAP customers in Europe that are using this protocol. I believe that versions of Exchange prior to 2007 supported it, but i'm not sure if that was carried forward to Exchange 2007. Other than that, you would need a third party X.400 program to pick up files from a directory and forward them on.

Yes it exchange 2003 Enterprise supports X.400, but X.400 AFAIK support has been removed from the 2007 version, which is a bummer.

Although i couldn't find anything in the docs, i was kind of hoping there would be some kind of support out of the box. :-)

Meny global x.400 service providers can bridge AS2 to x.420 or x.435. That is a sequre option since x.435 and AS2 is best option when we are talking mission critical transport.

An other option is AS2 - AS2

If not, go for Covast EDI Accelerator for BizTalk 2006 (comes with a big price tag) or other over seas vendors.

Since BizTalk is an American product and x.400 is a mainly an over seas concept we might have to wait for the native Biztalk x.400 adapter.

I thought biztalk was an international product. :-)

Thanks for the tips.

AS2 is probably not an option. Will have to talk to the VAN provider to see if he can use other protocols or if Exchange 2003 is the way to go (although that will hinder migration to exchange 2007)

Would it be posible to create a custom WCF Adapter configuration for x.435, x.420 and OFTP over TCP/IP !

Covast has support for X.400 P7 natively. This is the X.400 protocol most widely used to talk to VANs. This BizTalk Transport Adapter is part of the Covast B2B Suite, the Microsoft recommended B2B/EDI solution for BizTalk Server since 2000.

hello,

you say that there is TAP customers in Europe that uses x.400. I my self work on a European TAP customer (well not any more TAP as ended) and we are trying yo integrate the x.400 protocol with Biztalk.

Covast is very expensive, Can you give some pointers to where do a guy should move...I dont know where to begin...

Develop a custom x.400 adapter

thx

I can assure you, developing an X.400 adapter is quite a complex task (we've been there)...

I'm sure that if you contact wilfred.noppers@covast.com (Sales) that he can work out a solution for your customer.

Our X.400 P7 adapter (implemented as a BizTalk Transport Adapter) works independently of the other parts of the B2B Suite.
