Hello,

I have been scratching my brain trying to figure out why my Outlook 2007 index search is no longer working. I've tried the following Microsof articles with no luck:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929361/en-us

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930010/en-us

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927676/en-us

I've tried a bunch of things on the Forum with no luck. Please bear in mind that it "used to work". It's now spitting out 3013 and 3036 errors in the eventlog.

When I "reset" the index to re-index everything, it "looks" like it is properly indexing my ost and pst. But when it has completed and I try a search, it returns nothing, zip, nada.

I am at my wits end trying to figure this out. I've used Regmon and Filemon to try to glean something that may not be found. However, everything appears normal. I've also enabled logging in Outlook 2007...but there is nothing regarding the indexed search.

I haven't found a drill-down doc on indexing for this problem. Any help would be appreciated. Please keep in mind that I've done quite a bit of troubleshooting already.

Thanks!
Dustin

Have you try fixing your .pst or .ost files Use scanpst.exe or scanost.exe located in your MS Office program folders.

Hello,

per your message, I ran the tool. The indexing started to re-index by itself. However, the computer still does not find anything at all.

Can you find any files in your machine I thought you were having problems with Outlook Do you have any errors in your event logs in regards to search

Could you copy and paste some of the events you are seeing in the event log.

Do you get any error message when searching in Outlook Are you able to search from the WDS UI

Could you check your %temp%\outlook logging and see if there are files with errors in them and copy paste some of those errors to here

Hello,

the computer finds files on the computer....just nothing in Outlook whatsoever...whether it's an OST or a PST or an Archived PST.

It appears to go through the search procedure in Outlook, but does not return any results. For example, typing in the word "the" should bring back many items, but again, nothing returned. Current eventlog entries include 3036 and 3013. More 3013's than 3036's.

3013:

The entry <C:\WINDOWS\DEBUG\USERMODE\CHKACC.BAK> in the hash map cannot be updated.

Context: Windows Application, SystemIndex Catalog

Details:

Unspecified error

(0x80004005)

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

3036:

The content source <mapi://{s-1-5-21-1993962763-261903793-839522115-1107}/> cannot be accessed.

Context: Windows Application, SystemIndex Catalog

I'm also having this problem and would really like to see a solution. No indexing in Outlook 2007 under Vista. Windows file indexing works fine. All setttings indicate that it should be indexing...

Hi David,

thanks for trying to help. If you had read my post above, you'd see that I already did put in the events I am seeing. Secondly, I've already stated in a previous post that the WDS UI works.....however, as stated in the title of this post, it "Does not index Outlook 2007..."

I've got 4 files in the Outlook Logging directory:

610KB archive.pst.log
309KB firstrun.log
2,768KB OPMLog.log
1,000,398KB outlook.ost.log

Are you sure you want me to post the larger of the two That will take up quite a bit of space.

My Outlook 2007 does not index or find anything at all. Windows desktop searching is working fine.

Everything was working fine until I did a fresh install of Vista. I copied my Outlook 2007 files (from my XP machine) . . . maybe this gummed everything up. I have been using the same ost and pst files for 7 years . . . I'd really rather not lose them but I HAVE to be able to search them . . .

Please help if anyone has any ideas.!

Sincerely,

Doug B

I think they gave up Worse, there is nothing to go on to figure this out. I'm sure there is a non-public knowledge base article that knows about this problem. There is really not much good documentation on the indexing feature of Windows Desktop Search (and Outlook search)

I am having the same problem also (running office 2007 pro on XP SP2). Indexing used to work great and I thought was a really good enhancement of Outlook 2007 over 2003. I am investigating this further and will post any results I get on the forum.

Hi,

I suggest having a look at this post:

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx PostID=1264471&SiteID=1

I had all those problems too but now I am facing another one in Outlook 2007 with the search problem.

I think there is an issue when we have Outlook 2007 in Vista.

I am waiting for Microsoft to answer.

But you people can insist with Microsoft because you have unlimited support calls on the first 90 day period after installing.

Keep forcing them to relook at this closer.
