I think the pros of this approach would be that it uses Active Directory which has been tested with something like 60 million objects. It allows you to leverage a existing technology for you application. What I would ask is, is it likely that you will have such a large amount of users, and would using AD be the most effective choice for authentication What would you need to do to maintain such an application, and does that maintenance then lend itself to ADAM I think that the other difficulty may be that you could use the technology, then later perhaps find that it is no longer viable, however since you're basing the architecture around a technology choice, not the technology choice around the requirements, I think you might get yourself into difficulty I hope this helps you start to ask yourself the difficult questions!     - CSF2.5 - Session memory overflow problems Hello - Let me provide some background for this before clearing your concerns. . NET Framework does not provide memory management out of the box for a process as it varies from application to application. So it is left up to the application developers to implement the memory management. As you mentioned Windows by default allocates 2 GB of memory for a process because only 2GB can be addressed in a 32-bit OS, which could be extended up to 3 GB by adding a switch. In order to prevent the session server running out of memory, we have done some throttling to make sure the server remains stable. So when you continue to create session and not terminate them or if you pump more messages than session server could handle the messages will get queued up. In such cases, the memory consumption will grow. When it gets to certain memory threshold levels, we disable certain features and keep the critical functions working and also we log the warnings so that the operations engineer is aware of what is going on. GetSessionIDs and GetActiveSessions (which are deprecated in CSF 3.0) are admin APIs and very memory intensive. We have addressed these issues in CSF3.0 very efficiently by providing a Search API using which you could search and terminate old sessions which are still hanging in there. However Failed to send ReadMaps is something may not be related to this issue. Also you don't have to set up multiple worker processes / recycling the worker processes. They aren't efficient. You need to make sure you are terminating the sessions which are not being used to keep your resources available. If the problem persist after terminating the unused sessions, please provide the reading for the following performance counters 1. # of Active Sessions 2. Unfortunatelly I don't have any experience with such a setup, but I can tell you a couple of hints regarding the camera to buy: 1.- It must support DirectShow (I think most of webcams do) in order to work with MSRS. 2.- For an application like the one you described it would be nice to have remotely controlled pan tilt motion and zoom. As per 2, there are a couple of cheap options (I don't know about proffessional options or IP cameras) that provide robotized pan-tilt: Logitech Orbit and Creative Live Motion. Using Roborealm you could control the motors of the cameras (I didn't test that myself yet, it's in my ToDo list though). If you already have a cam, but it doesn't provide pan-tilt motion, you might want to check a device like the TrackerPod [1] which was accessible using C# and XP. My options  1)  If you use a standard connection ( SQL*Net ) you just need to have your tnsnames.ora entry point to your database server. 2) You could expose a web service from the Oracle database, but for consistence and security reasons I'd recommend you host all of our web services on your windows platform. I'm not a big fan of web services from the database. 3) You can implement caching and pooling options to help you out with this. It seems not to be the case of the SDK, but....you can create your own .Net library who (yes) fully uses all the SDK and compile it for Interop and...reference it from VBA. can i suggest to look at the SSO samples within the SDK as a starting point. Some great code there.
