Sorry if I show my CS experiance level. But I need some help finding where shipping weight is stored. I've been tasked with allowing a client to edit shipping weights for product variants and I'm not sure where to start.

Thanks in Advance.

You may need to add a "Weight" property to your product definitions.

It is the StepwiseShipping pipeline component that calculates the shipping rates (and therefore uses the Weight if needed). This component is called from the ShippingMethodRouter pipeline component (assuming you have it configured to do so)

Hope this helps...

Thanks, it is already using weight, but at the product level. The client has requested to be able to set ship weight per variant.

I have a basic understanding of pipelines and pipeline components because I implemented the Tax pipeline for this install. However, I'm unsure how to edit an existing pipeline component Assuming that I can get to the code of the ShippingMethodRouter, I could just locate where it is currently pulling the weight from, and edit accordingly, but my best code searches have not yielded anything yet.

I "think" you could set your Weight Property as a Variant level property (inside Product Definition), and the StepwiseShipping should pick it up. I think (not 100%) sure, that the component will try to read a field call "_product_weight" of each line item.

Thanks JP, so far you've been a big help.

Where can I find tghe Product Definition to edit it I searched my project for _product_weight and didn't find anything

OK, so I'm a little further now, I found the product definition in the Inventory/Schema manager. But weight is in the Product Properties. When I try to remove it, and add it to the Product Variant properties, the remove button is grayed out. Getting close... any ideas

Found it! I needed to remove the "all products" property from the Weight attribute, then move it from the product level tot he variant level.. Thanks for your help JP, Mission accomplished!
