Hi,

it would be great if it was possible to simply change and add field mapping between an Sharepoint list and Outlook 2007. For exemple, if I add a new field or property in Sharepoint list have the ability to add it in Outlook and create a mapping between these two.

Thanks

I also have the same requriement, but instead of mapping the fields from List in Sharepoint 2007 to Outlook 2007 I want to map fields from Contact List in Sharepoint 2007 to Outlook 2003. I have tried using "connect to outlook" option from Action menu in Sharepoint Contact List but it maps some fields like Business Phone, Home Phone, Mobile and Business Fax. It does not map fields like Email and Department. Email and Department has "Contact" content type.

Try Doing the following Steps ,

The following is what I did:

- Create Contacts List (Site Actions > Create)

- Go to new contact list

- Settings > List Settings

- Columns ĘC Add from existing site colums

- Select site columns from ĘC Core Contact and Calendar Colums

- Add Department

- Create Contact, define department

- Actions > Connect to Outlook

- Department shows up!

Sincerely,

I have tried the steps suggested by you. The department field remains blank in Outlook 2003. These steps works properly with outlook 2007.

Awaiting your reply.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions, but I'm working with post items. I wanted to add new fields or bind a new field to a discussion list and have it sync in Outlook.

It would be great to be able to change the default Outlook mapping for the fields. For exemple the received filed is map to something like modified, so every time someone set a category on a discussion item in Outlook the date change. A workaround for this id to use the field Created.

However if I want to have a mail enabled list and receive emails from everyone (not just internal ones) like I'm doing with my public folder. I want to have the real sender of the email as the sender in Outlook, which actually is the windows account that has create the item in Sharepoint. I've opened a support ticket and the behaviour was by design... I've found a workaround which can be found here :

http://blogs.msdn.com/sfellman/archive/2007/12/17/issue-programmatically-posting-wss-2007-discussion-list-items-shows-sender-as-system-account-in-outlook-2007.aspx

Re: Innovate on Office Custom Sharepoint list fields

lightreading

...at your suggestion I searched at the location you suggested for Outlook 2003 issues related to Sharepoint 2007. However, no search results came up.

Since I see that several people are having the same problem I'm having, I'll add my request to the pile.

I've imported a contact list into sharepoint.

That contact list includes a field for "IM Address"

When I "connect to Outlook" from that contact list, the contacts appear in outlook as a new sub-list (read only).

However, the "IM Address" field is blank, despite the fact that there is data in that field in the contact list on Sharepoint.

In previous versions of outlook and sharepoint, this issue was related to Microsoft actually crippling or limiting the fields that could by synchronized between Outlook and Sharepoint. Is that still the case If so, is it because you are trying to get folks to upgrade to Exchange

(we don't run exchange)

Please advise, as I'd like to stop wasting time using sharepoint if it can't do something so very obvious and simple -

Thanks,

Warren
