    - Small bug in BlobTrackerCalibrate.cs If I understand it correctly, line 239 in BlobTrackerCalibrate.cs does nothing: Arbiter .Choice( setImage.ResultPort, delegate ( EmptyValue success) { }, delegate ( Exception e) { fault = Fault .FromException(e); } ); I think there is a yield return missing in front of the Arbiter.Choice. It's a pity that this can't be caught by the compiler somehow. It compiles clean, but the Choice is never executed.     - Why return a Success boolean from a web service? Rignt, but "true/false" result doesn't provide me with any information. The exception fact itself is equal to "true/false". If I just want to know if the method call was successfull or not I can catch SoapException and be sure that I know it. But if I change the logic and want to know any details, to know WHY it doesn't work.. I cannot know it with "true/false" result at all. Well, about the exceptions. There is a good policy: if you expect the exception, catch this type of exception and then throw your own type of exception which will be much more informative for up-level code. For instance, if my method incapsulates some data manipulations and database calls, it expets database exceptions as well as other kind of exceptions which can occure during data manipulations. So I will catch all database exceptions and then create my own instance of the exception (something like MyService.DatabaseIsNotOperableException), set the InnerException property and throw my new exception. The same with data manipulations, (let's say MyService.InvalidDataProvidedException) etc. So, when I call this (web)method. I will not have "low-level" information such as unique constraints, my app doesn't know anything about any constraints. But I WILL have the information and I WILL know what happens (database problem, input data is wrong, which data, etc). And I know exactly that my (web) method can throw particulary these exceptions, I can (sometimes) handle the situation in code. At least I can provide user with the information "what's wrong" instead of just saying "I received false, your request was rejected".     - Can XPath variables be used in <styling> Yes, you can use author-defined expressions inside timing blocks of your markup files, but as donbox5 says they can only be used in timing expressions, not in set or animate calls or as part of the styling block. Remeber to set all your XPath variables to their default values during your markupLoadedHandler function, otherwise your markup will fail on the first tick.     - Marketing Manager - Custom target expressions possible? I’m creating a targeted expression in Marketing Manager, which will be used to determine whether to display an ad. I would like to evaluate this expression based on a date that is defined within the user profile (hence the date is dynamic). This doesn’t seem to be possible with the target expression editor. Is there a way to perform a custom target expression For example: If “UserObject.LicenseExpiryDate” On or before "Current date" I can only select a static date from the Value field within the target expression editor within Marketing Manager, when really I’d like for that to be “Now” or "Current Date". Luckily I set IT workstations to notify before downloading and check every few hours as opposed to daily/automatic for the rest of the organisation, so I caught it before it was rolled out anywhere.     - Quandary over role of Testers in a v 1 application that is being run on Agile (Scrum) For my company, we have business analysts writing requirements, and they are my key customer, as well as being my support for business / activity information and sign off of 'any' testing I do. I see it as a 3 way partnership, analysts, developers, testers. All supposed to be swimming in the same direction, and 'buying' into the quality aspects as well as the quantity. Must the systems tester be an analyst imho no... but Analysts do need to be very actively involved. 2 weeks ago I did a training course for the Test Practitioner Exam. This is a course for aspiring Test Team Leader or Test managers. Of the other 6 Testers on the course. All of them did systems testing. They don't get involved with code, don't do any formal low level stuff, their main role is point and click operations with gui's. Automation for them mainly involved a few lines of vb script editing. For them, they work to a set of requirements and try and test against it. Now, black box testing has its place, i don't disagree with it in any way. But process improvement is an end to end activity. Testing as i see it displayed in many companies seems to encourage a funnel effect, nice wide opening at the beginning (woolly grey requirements, insufficient unit testing) eventually tapering down to a narrow opening (where they try and capture everything at system test). Why don't they think to invert the funnel.... tighten the low level testing to a point where you can statistically 'afford' to slacken off a little with the late systems testing. As for testers not being experienced with code or not involved in low level activities: For your baby, would you hire a baby minder who'd brought up 5 kids of their own, or a 14 year old who'd had none Which one is 'most likely' to have seen similar problems before, and seen what works or doesn't. rgds, Keith Tag: Connected Services Framework Service Catalog Installation Architecture

I am trying to install CSF 3.0 Full version. All the components are getting installed Excpet Service Catalog, where only UDDI registration tool is getting installed.

I have checked thread from Senthil about Platform SDK and downloaded and installed that one. I have also checked UDDI installation and made sure that non-SSL is selected and UDDI is running under ASP 1.1 in the IIS.

Still the problem persists. Please guide.

It must be only "Platform SDK 2003 Sp1", any other Platform sdk ...would fail :)
