I had to do a complete reinstall of Commerce server and now i am trying to get the product catalogs back to the new install.

All i have is the original commerce server database and when i try to sync the database between the old and the new commerce server wont register that new catalogs are in the database. I sync all the databases includeing MSCS_Admin and MSCS_CatalogScratch. (not users tho as the new install is on a domain, where the old was a stand alone)

Anyone have any suggestions how to make CS "see" the old catalogs

Hey Philip,

What are you doing to "sync" the databases Is it a simple backup / restore

It is not just a restore, I am useing SQL Delta, a program that can syncronize the content of databases, roles, functions and so on.

The old and the new shop is called the same name so it is easy to check that the content of the databases is the same.

The only item that i dont syncronize is the users, as we are now useing domain users to handle access to the databases.

So i am fairly sure that the content of the databases are the same. But Commerce Server dont show the old categories, products or properties in the biz tools.

Dont you see any catalogs or do you get an error when you try to access the catalog system

I only see the default Adventure works catalog.

I had already set up 168 diffrent catalogs and categories with metadata (weeks of work) and now when i copy it back commerce server dont register the old categories.

In the glareing light of hindsight i should have packed the old shop and then done an import tru the management tools.

Since you copied over the MSCS_Admin database as well, you would have overwritten the connection string to the product catalog DB to point to the old Database. Can you open "Commerce Server Manager", go to the "Product Catalog" site resource and change the "Connection String" property on the resource to point to the new DB
