I cannot get the starter site to show preorder item. I've setup a new product, with variant inventory properties:
backorderable unchecked
preorderable checked
onhand quantity = 0
preorder limit = 9999999
stockout threshold = 1

and in commerce server management console, set the inventory stock handling property to 1.

do I need to restart anything

It continues to show "Out of Stock!"

I have not looked into this but have you tried to create your own page and test this by calling the APIs directly without StarterSite

I just did a quick test and I don't see what you see. I see the item status as Preorder.

Here are the steps:
In Commerce Server Manager I set the stock handling = 1 Then an IIS reset.
Next in Catalog Manager I used Venus product and set the following properties:
Status = Enabled
On hand quantity = 0
Pre order limit = 999
Pre order availability date = sometime in the future

Now updat the site cache from Catalog Manager.

I do have CS2007 SP1 so I am not sure if that make a difference.

My preorder availability date was in the past! I was going off a post on this forum that stated the date was not taken into consideration, but that is apparently not true. I set the date to the future, and viola! it works.

Thanks Max

I have sp1 also

Hi Max,

Why the deafult option for the stock handling is 0 and not 1

I mean, if starter site is coded allowing preorder and backorder, why did they put this property on 0 and they provided also a very few documentation about it

I mean, if someone check preorderable or backorderable why should he know of an other configuration property wich is the sense performance !

I lose 2 hours to understand why was not working GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

an other useful question.... how can I get the InventoryCondition on a product list (on the category.ChildProducts) I was able to add to the category the inventory option, can I add in the properties to return the inventory condition

about performance what do you think to display information in product list, is it going "too" eavy is it not cached the ChildProducts method right do you generally use a custom cache for it

thanks for the info....

Stelio

I am not sure the reasoning behind the default options. I guess it was due to how many customers asked for the feature.

If you have an inventory catalog associated with your product catalog then you have the inventory values returned to you. When getting the childprodcuts of a category you get a collection of product objects so yes you should have the inventory field.
