Any news on players correctly playing interlaced video at 25 frames a sec.

The Toshiba player doesn't seem to handle it well.

Can you be specific about which Toshiba player There are, what, five models now I think. Does the Xbox player handle it

25fps support is optional per the HD DVD spec, and only for 50Hz markets I seem to recall. I assume you have some PAL video to play Which encoder/muxer are you using

Thanks for the info Andy,

Sorry to hear it's optional since some video source material in Europe is 25 Interlaced. Using the HD A1 at the moment, getting an European HD DVD player hope they will playback the video. The European Blu-ray player handles 25i with no problems.

Update:

Just found this on the Toshiba site at the bottom of the page:

"HD DVD discs containing high definition content at a field rate of 50Hz or a frame rate of 25Hz cannot be played on HD-XE1 without a firmware update.  Firmware update is expected in the future.  Should you have any questions about the frame rate of your disc, please contact the disc vendor."

Hope that firmware revision will come soon.

Can you try the Xbox player Jacco At least if that doesn't work I have a chance of getting a fix in sometime.

(The HD A1 can't even play PAL DVDs with no region code, so this issue isn't entirely surprising to me, sadly)

We currently have no European HD DVD players, I'll let you know when we've tested on one.
