Did you just copy the exe file or all of them

The exe file is not a standalone file it requires the other files in the debug folder

Hi Js06 ,

I have Copied Just The .exe
but Why it Will require the othere files
I Want to Send it To a Friend To Test Some Functionality
I Saw on Some(all) Software Just The .exe in the file & all Working
or I am Wrong

Thanks

I can't answer that

All i can say is that's the way it is

I don't know about any other programs that just have an exe

If you create a setup then there will be only one file with some install creators

What exactly are you trying to do

Just send that app as it is to let them test it

or are you trying to create an installer to send to them

oK , I Will Clear You The Situation
taking an Exemple of a Programme ,
it Take a Picture and You Can Saw it in PictureBox and Save it SomeWhere
just this simple Example
in case a friend of mine has the The Button Prt Scr Not Working
so when i send to him this applicataion , I should Normally Send to him just the .exe
& he will do the job
Just the .exe not an installer one
so the question can only the .exe work for it (by the way he has the .netframework )

Hey, me and a buddy tried the same thing. The problem is that the other files are part of your program. fo if you dont send them all, your not actually sending your program. Reason other compilers and coding programs can save just an exe, is because their different.

Why dont you try to program a solution for this maybe make your own compiler

Maybe there is a method or something to copy the other containes in the debug into the .exe
so it will be excutable

Does your project reference any other .dll's or third party code If so, then you may need to include those when you send your .exe to someone else.

If your program doesn't reference any .dll's or third party code, then just sending the .exe should be fine. The only thing to remember, that whatever machine you run the .exe on MUST have the .Net framework installed for your program to run.

So if you sent the .exe to a friend and he doesn't have the correct version of the .Net framework installed, the program will not run.

Where did you copy the .exe to try to run it

Chris

Hi killer7k,

Why do you want to do that You can just distribute your application using the exe file and dll files together.

Thanks!

Tall Dude

Try out my 'toy' installer see:

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx PostID=1371143&SiteID=1

It will bundle a 'publish to CD-ROM', published

VBEE project to a single EXE file.

(You actually publish to your harddrive, not a CD-ROM.)

Please read all the notes in the link.

Or you can just zip up the published folder if the other person

can handle zipped files. Then they can unzip and run setup.exe.
