Hi, I'm new to programing and just loaded VE 2005 C++ Express. I tried two of the video tutorials from the 16 part beginner series and most of what they showed in the code window didn't match up with what I had. There were large sections of code in my window not shown in video, and it wasn't just collapsed. Additionally, two of the commands shown were wrong ie: using ' to input comments (which seems to behave similarly to " ), and secondly when inputing text to a textbox they say to use a period (textbox1.text) which apparently should be (textBox1->text)

I know this might seem trivial to some, but for a beginner like myself, attempting the code and having it fail repeatedly while trying to figure out what is wrong and only to find through extensive searching that the tutorial is the culprit is rather unassuring. I did notice that in the videos they were using a beta version of the software but I do not know if that would cause such errors. Could anyone here please refer me to some better videos or material

Thanks,

artillery

It may be that you are using C++.

I don't think that any of the videos are for C++.

They are for visual basic exrpress as far as i know.

Move it from VB Express forum to VC++ Express forum for better responses.

Thanks,

Hi artillery,

I second that you are probably watching videos that are not targeting c++, textbox1.text is usually seen in c# or vb.net code while textbox1->text is c++ syntax, if you want to watch videos that dedicated to visual c++ 2005 express edition, take a look at this page: Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition Videos

hope it helps
