cpp-not-VB

I made a CD following the directions of 'publish' menu item of visual basic express. The program is a very simple one because I was trying to learn how to run a VB program on another computer which does not have VB environment. But when I tried to install the software in a stand alone PC which had no internet connection, the installation 'setup' program in the CD showed me an error message which meant 'it could not download a certain file...'. The file had an internet path leading to microsoft network. Does it try to download a file from online Does Microsoft controls all installation programs made with VB

Anyone knows the answer please enlighten me. Or tell me what I'm doing wrong The process of 'publishing' seemed so simple.

The Dot Net framework is required...no way around it.

To prepare a system for publication on CD - look at the pre-requisites and specify the the dot net framework is a required file.

So, we cant just download 'DotNetFX\WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe' in a folder ourselves and add the path in prerequisites Which means we cant install VB applications in a non-internet stand alone PC

BTW, the setup did install the program in another PC hooked up with internet. Boy, I miss C++.

yes you could ...but it should also be a part of your distribution under SDKs or packages I regret that I currently do not have a system with vs2005 on it.
