Actually those are two different questions. Vs2005 has good classes to send mail (System.Net.Mail) and you can look that up in HELP and it has been discussed here many times so you can use search.

To recieve email you need to connect to a POP server which will receive email for you. That's not something that you develop with vs2005.

ReeneC is correct you need to use the Mail class (System.Net.Mail) for sending of emails. As for recieving you have to use POP3 and SMTP commands. There are .dll files also you can get that may be of some use.

'
Code Snippet

Variable which will send the mail.
Dim obj As System.Web.Mail.SmtpMail

'Variable to store the attachments
Dim Attachment As System.Web.Mail.MailAttachment

'Variable to create the message to send
Dim Mailmsg As New System.Web.Mail.MailMessage()

There some variables that you will need for sending of e-mails

It depends, Hotmail has its own smtp address, comcast has its own smtp address, etc. I know that comcast's SMTP address is smtp.comcast.net and the port is 25.
