Try changing the property RenderMode to System

Yes. Most controls have a backgroundImage property for this. You put a background image on the whole strip or individual menu items.

i think what cameron is reffering to is the "annoying blue strip" that i reffered to in the beginning of this thread, in the image...he wants to know if you can change that blue gradiented image to another image.

Yes. You just have to make your background image of either the menu item or the whole strip have a bar of whatever color you like and white for the area of the text.
