To do the job right you need to have a source code management tool...there are alot of open source and freebies out there but the MS solution is

Visual SourceSafe

Odd, never heard or seen that in VB6. Maybe you're talking about the "Lock controls" option you'll get when you right-click a form in the designer That's still there, both in the context menu and as a property in the Properties window...

To clarify, I first started programming with VB6 that is built in to Excel. I assumed that maybe the features were the same in VB by itself.

Ahhhhh, That is not the same as VB6 that is VBA(Visual Basic for Applications) and you are actually protecting the workbook (xl* file)...like I stated above...to get any kind of security with your source code you will have to use a source management tool....of course when you compile your VB.NET code you will not natively be able to read the VB code

Thank you. I thought that when you locked your project for viewing in the VBA project properties and had an option for a password that this was a feature in VB by itself since I could still use my excel but not access my code without a password. I did not realize VB for applications was different. So thank you again.
