I am a professional web developer. At work I use the enterprise edition of Visual Studio .NET 2005. For web development, I regularly create web applications as opposed to web sites - this is accomplished via the patch at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/asp.net/aa336618.aspx and is my preferred method of development on the .NET 2.0 platform.

I just finished installing Visual Web Developer 2005 Express on my home laptop for personal study and was wondering if the patch can be applied to the express edition, and or if there is any way to create a web application project in the express studio.

Thanks,

JWF

Supported Products

  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition
  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite
  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Software Architects
  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Software Developers
  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Software Testers

I am assuming you are using either Team Suites or Team Edition for software developers because there is no VS2005 Enterprise Edition. And the answer to your question is at the end of link posted Visual Web Developer express is not supported. VS2008 is in beta 2 you can test drive the Team Suites.
