Recently after the release of Visual Studio SP1, we've seen an increase in the number of customers who are unable to register they copy of Visual Studio Express. This is caused by the following actions:

1. Customer Installs Visual Studio

2. Customer Registers Product but does not enter activation code

3. Customer installs SP1

4. Customer attempts to enter activation code

5. a Invalid Activation Code

The solution to this problem is to reregister the product and obtain a new registration key. You can do this by selecting Help->Register Product .

OK.

I have installed VB Express on my machine.

I get a message that the registration will expire in 3 days (Visual Basic Express Edition Activation You have 3 days left...) so I get the registration code. The code is not accepted.

In VB Express, there is no 'Register Product' in the help menu. About returns the following data:

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
Version 8.0.50727.762 (SP.050727-7600)
Microsoft .NET Framework
Version 2.0.50727

Installed Edition: VB Express

Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 76541-XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXX (actual numbers Xed out)
Microsoft Visual Basic 2005

Now, I had uninstalled VBExpress and reinstalled. It appears that the computer thinks that I have two copies installed

OS: W2k3 Server. I am the only user.

My issue is the same as this. However, when I try to open VWDeveloper, it asks me to complete registration (the product key I have doesn't work). I go to "complete registration", an email is sent thanking me for completing registration and then "it" tries to take me to a web page that errors when it tries to display. I then went to the VWDeveloper forum, where I tried to get a new product key. It says that I have none. I can't go to Help as the solution above says to because when I hit "cancel" form the registration dialog, it closes the application. Any idea what to do

I am having the exact same problem! Everytime I try to register, I get the "Thank You" for registering email but no keycode. I am stuck.

Same thing here-- no problem getting the confirmation email, but no registration key. Hope there's an answer soon.

Same deal here. I got the email but logging in went no further and if I tried again I got a .Net error screen.

I'm having the same problem. I get the confirmation email, but I get a server error instead of a registration code...

I am experiencing the same problem, I also tried turning off Norton Antivirus and Firewall but I have received the same IE error.

Glad to see I'm not alone. I've tried today to get it to work and have gotten the same error, the webpage times out. Hopefully this can be resolved soon, I need VB for a class I'm taking!

I was finally able to get a registration key but it was more than a week before the problem was fixed. Are others still getting server errors

I am also having the exact same problem. My registration was successful, but no registration key provided. Everytime i click help->register product, the visual c# express 2005 links me to msdn site and told me "thank you for registering". On top of that, once i installed XNA game studio express, the xna framework a little bit difference in some condition from the XNA tutorial. I am stuck..
