I am new at using Microsoft VB express... I find it really wonderful to use but i have a little problem i want to figure out and ran into a road block.

I have been watching the free tutorial on just the basic use of making a Change my color box... What my problem is when the help video creates a button it looks like a very smooth button... where as the button choose that i get is a very squar button. I am currently trying to make a visually good looking database but i want the buttons to look better... for example like the one in the help video... How do i create that button.

In that video, they are just using the standard Button from the Toolbox. The difference might be in your Display settings. If you're using Windows XP and your display settings theme is set to Windows XP, the button will look rounded, like the one in the video. If your display settings are set to Windows Classic, the button will look more square.

You can check your settings by opening the Control Panel and double-clicking Display. In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Themes tab, and then check whether your theme is set for Windows Classic, Windows XP (or something else).

If this is not the difference you're referring to, post back and I'll try and help more.

There is no way to "force" which one is displayed.

It is based on the users settings that are running the program.

If you right click on your project in the solution explorer and choose properties to go to the properties page and click the application tab there is a check box in the Windows application framework properties group box for enableing XP visual styles . If you uncheck that it can change the look of your app to a more classic look without the visual styles but that is only if they are useing visual styles .
