Please Help. Running Visual Studio 2005 Express - and it's great. All was running fine. It was using Mozilla as the default browser. I have replaced Mozilla - the Debugger still tries to start Mozilla and gets in trouble (can't find the file - it's gone). I have used the new browser FireFox to re-set the system default browser to FireFox -but- the VWD-2005-Express still tries to start the old Mozilla browser.....
How can I tell Visual Studio 2005 Express to start the now current default browser FireFox
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Does Microsoft monitor this site
Really
Some of these questions (like this one) don't seem to be all that difficult for a heavy Microsofter especially an insider. I wonder why it's up to the community to try to find these answers - when the Microsoft people should have them..... It's REALLY non-productive and discouraging to wait for day's to get an answer to what appears to be simple questions. We don't have much else to do (except complain) since we can't make any progress on our projects - waiting for road block answers.....
Sorry to gripe -but- like I said I can't go forward with my project, and I am frustrated with no solution to get this show back on the road.
Would someone from Microsoft PLEASE answer some of the outstanding questions on this board.....

Run Help-> Search in the IDE and paste this text into the search text box: debugger default browser

Read the first entry that comes back.

I marked this reply as Not Helpful - it referees me to some drivel about Register entries and the .Net Framework - - - I ask about the Visual Studio 2005 Express and (not being a great programmer) I expected an answer that would direct me to something about which I ask... This type of quitesie answer is really not appreciated and I consider a waste of (at least my) time... Do you think I have not already gone to the (Help System) and looked for an answer - we are trying to learn and if we wait long enough we get this kind of response. IF I were a heavily experienced programmer I wouldn't be asking these questions...
THANKS Sooooooooo much!
Paul

ANOTHER Day goes by without an answer..........................

For anyone that has this problem and REALLY wants to continue their efforts - I copied Internet Explorer to the location that the
Visual Studio 2005 Express THINKS the Default Browser is located - changed the name to mozilla.exe (that's what Visual Studio 2005 Express is expecting) and I am able to continue - IE says something about limited capabilities - but at least it starts IE and I can continue with the Debugger.....

I guess NO ONE actually (knows or cares or will tell)  how Visual Studio 2005 Express stores it's default browser.....

Weston Hutchins - MSFT

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. If you want to change the default browser go to File->Browse With... and select the browser you want to use.

Exactly where might I find this File-> Browse With->   Is it part of the Visual Studio 2005 Express - if so I can't find it...

Thanks,
Paul

Since you've renamed your browser, etc in your previous post, this may or may not work for you. You may have to (and I would recommend) reversing the steps you took. I can post screenshots if needed, but it will be on an external server. I posted the steps to use Help, as that's how I found the answer, and because that help topic is local on my machine, I can't just send you the link. Sorry if that led you somewhere unexpected.

Weston's answer is correct (and cleaner), but requires the following steps before following his:

1. Launch Web Developer Express

2. Either open an existing web project, or create a new one. You have to have a web project open in order to set the default browser.

3. Open the File menu, you should see Browse With.. as a submenu. Click on Browse With.

4. A new dialog box will come up listing available browsers. Select the one you want to use as the default browser, and click the Set As Default button.

That should do it. If the browser you want isn't listed, you can click the Add... button and choose any browser you like.
