  • Right click on the project, select Add -> User Control
  • Write in the name of the control and press OK

Then just add other controls to this new control or write in a code for it as you do with forms

VB express does not give you the templates to do this.

It doesn't take a template, just a class. Check this thread for an example, don't be put-off by the voodoo.

My assumption was they they want to create a user defined custom control, which combines one or more controls into a single control which they can reuse in different applications. Hence the use of a template helps tremendously with designing the layout of the controls, hooking them up and building the control.

Sure you can do anything in code, but VB Express doesnt provide these templates for create custom controls, whereas the pay versions do.

If you want to modify the behaviour of an existing control slightly then you may be able to do it simply in code.
