I have a class derived from CFrameWnd that calls an update command. It seems that this command(since it is continually being called) is overiding the tooltip notification because when I hover over this toolbar button the tooltip is not displayed but they are displayed for all my other buttons. Is their a way around this

After playing around with the update command I determined that it was not the actual call to the update of the UI that was causing the tooltip to not be displayed. Inside my update function I call pCmdUI->SetCheck. It appears that when I am trying to uncheck this command (because it is also a menu item) by calling SetCheck with nCheck = 0 the tooltip will not be displayed. The tooltip is displayed if SetCheck is called with nCheck = 1 i.e. the state of the menu item is checked. I've narrowed the problem down to this point but still don't know how to solve it. Hopefully with this new bit of information someone knows a solution. Thanks for any help in advance.
