Hello Everyone. Seems like everyone is having problems with new updates from Microsoft. A box popping up at start up stating "RTHDCPL.EXE Illegal System DLL Relocation". Well here is the answer: http://support.microsoft.com default.aspx/kb/935448/ . I have tried it, downloaded the installation, restarted and no warning box. Now if only Microsoft can figure out the problem(s) with IE 7.0. I installed IE 7.0 and restarted. Went on line and have Google as search engine. Well everytime I clicked on a link a bos stating something to the fact of "Can not find key activation". Now if anyone has the answer to this puzzle please share it.

Yeah, so vague and incomplete information.

I went to the link, did a search (on the right top hand corner) for RTHDCPL.EXE Illegal System DLL Relocation

And finally end up to download this file (see url below).

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx familyid=74AD4188-3131-429C-8FCB-F7B3B0FD3D86&displaylang=en

Install this update to resolve an issue where the Realtek HD Audio Control Panel may not start after you install security update KB925902 (MS07-017) and security update KB928843 (MS07-008). After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

AND

This problem may occur after you install security update 925902 (MS07-017) and security update 928843 (MS07-008). The Hhctrl.ocx file that is included in security update 928843 and the User32.dll file that is included in security update 925902 have conflicting base addresses. This problem occurs if the program loads the Hhctrl.ocx file before it loads the User32.dll file.

I installed it and it worked!

It never ends! Vista is already out and still Windows XP keeps on updating - you don't even know if you really need the update.

Did a Microsoft patch move a DLL If so why If not what the heck happend This is scary considering it's just after Vista releases... kinda makes me wonder if I'm running the right DLLs on my XP machine.

Pam

Thanks for clearing that up!

I had a lot of people tell me to stop running the updates for XP. All it does is cause problems.

Had this on two computers and first time updated high definition audio codecs from the realtek site and no problems, but second time thought I would try microsoft fix but it still came up so again, so updated the software to HDAC 1.65 for XP and no dll error screens or problems afterwards. Hope this helps.
