i dont know if this is the right section, but how would i go about coloring the background of a button, static, edit, listbox, ect.

can someone give me some example code to get me started

Using which technology. Doing it in MFC, C++/CLI and the Win32 API are all different. So unless we know what you are using there will not be a simple answer.

There is no option or function to change them directly, but the concept of is similar, here is a example about changing backgournd color of a edit control, take it as an example and you can find out how to change other control's background color as well:
