    - Function name conflict with ENUM name Suppose I have a ENUM T_MuxPos_type, where T_MuxPos_type{fixed;flexible;}. While I am coding, I have T_MuxPos_type Mux_pos. I have just been learning about finalizers in C++/CLI and saw quite a bit of sample code that duplicated the same resource-freeing code in both the destructor and finalizer.     - Porting a project from C to Unmanaged and Managed C++ I hope someone is in the same situation as me - at least to share in my misery. At our company, we have an existing codebase that consists of about 10 projects. All of the projects are a mix of C and unmanaged C++. We are using VS2005. The projects are not set up to have any /CLR support. What I want to do is, convert all the .C files to .CPP. Once all the files are unmanaged C++, then they should be able to interact with Managed C++ according to C++ Interop (this is the assumption I am operating under). My question is ... how straightforward of a task is this, what issues might arise, and is it possible and/or practical My other option is to use PInvoke to make a C# wrapper for everything, but there is a LOT of code and using PInvoke to wrap everything sounds tedious and error-prone.     - Calling C++ dll from C# I am trying to use a C++ dll in my C# application but unsuccessul. Here is what I have done: 1. The C++ code was developed using open BSD. 2. I made a C++ CLR dll using visual studio 2005 - "tc.dll" 3. In my C# application, I add the "tc.dll" as a reference from the solution explorer 4. I tried to instantiate the class of tc.dll using myClass mc = new myClass(); The C# program can not find the class at all. I assumed that since it is built as a assembly dll, all the class and their member functions in there should be visible if referenced. I am very new to C# and .Net, and not sure if what I am doing is indeed in the right direction. Please help.     - Still having problems with printing out INT64 integers Still having problems with printing out INT64 integers I am still having problems with this code. This prints out a number, but it's not exactly what I want. I need to print out an INT64 number that is in sync all the way through. For example: The hex: FF D8 FF E1 1E 63 45 78 is the first line of the file test.jpg. I would like to display its integer (unsigned) value: 18435766416983672184 But what it does it prints out is the number for hex 78 45 63 1E E1 FF D8 FF, which is 8666442042236197119. I thought this would be ok, but later when I want to do more stuff to the program it won't work. There has to be a simple way of reading in 64 bits of data and then output the decimal value into a .txt file. Please can someone help me! I searched google i searched here and i searched mIrc and no one seems to know how to do this, they tell me to use a difrent compiler but i love microsoft and could not do that. I recently finished learning the core language of c++ and am moving on to implement that knowledge with win api in which i am trying to learn now.     - Win 32 timer - OnTimer not called I am a newbie to VC++ and I am trying to use a win32 timer (with MFC and VS 2005) . The problem is that the OnTimer function is never called.     - Win32 Application Wizard Problem in VS2005 under Vista When I try to create a new C++ static library project, the Application Wizard's welcome screen that has both 'overview' and 'application settings' is completely disfunctional. Hyperlinks, 'Finish' and 'Cancel' buttons do nothing. Also some text is missing from the dialog (the current application settings bullets are blank). The only way out is to close the dialog using the red cross on the top-right-hand corner. Even the help button doesn't work. Obviously, I cannot create any new projects. I have installed VS2005 Enterprise under Vista Home Pro. I have also installed VS2005 SP1 as well as the service pack for VS2005 under Vista. I run VS2005 with administrative privilages. I don't have any problems with C# and ASP.NET projects. I even tried VS2008 Beta2 but had the same problem. One other symptom I see is when comparing file versions using VSS. One of the compare screens is normally blank until I force an update by selecting the text or covering it with another window. I am using SourceSafe version 8.0. I will really appreciate any help.     - HeapReAlloc user break point I'm looking for a problem with some particular code that's written in C and have been looking around the line that calls the "user break point" all of today just about. The HeapAlloc function is working fine and I've inspected the memory around pObjects (especially near the end) to make sure it's not an overrun and that everything is alloced cleanly. nRecordMax is at 2000 here, but it fails even if I just insert a 1003 in its place (the heap is allocated to 1000 to begin with). All other code seems to be fine.     - How to export C++ templates to CLR library to be used in C#? Hi! I am trying to export some libraries that are written in C++ to a DLL with the /clr option so it can be used in C#. I have some troubles to fully understand the how to export templates and generics to a CLR library. I have been searching the web for days for a good answer and I only find blogs that explain the goods and bads between generics and templates. And that is not the answer I am looking for. For example, I have this code in C++, compiled in a DLL and exported to a C# project. Code Snippet namespace MyDLL { generic<class T> public ref class GenericRefClass { public: T value; } template<class T> public ref class TemplateRefClass { public: T value; } generic<class T> public value class GenericValueClass { public: T value; } template<class T> public value class TemplateValueClass { public: T value; } } When I import MyDLL to a C# project I only see GenericRefClass and GenericValueClass . Is like the templates are not implemented in the library. in ECMA 334 pag. 74 says "C# generics will immediately be familiar to users of generics in Eiffel or Ada, or to users of templates in C++." Written like that is like generics in C# are the same as templates in C++. But it should be wrong. I know that templates are resolved during compilation and generics during run time. So, does that means that there is no way that templates could be interchangable through a dll Or is there another way Because there is a HUGE problem. How can I reuse the boost libraries http://www.boost.org/ that are mostly templates in a C# project Thanks in advance.     - Passing template function to _beginthreadex I'm creating a new thread but I'd like to supply a templated function to beginthreadex. My thread function prototype is: template<typename T> unsigned int _stdcall GetArrayThread(void* pvStruct) However, when a supply: "GetArrayThread<IClass1>" as the 3rd parameter to _beginthreadex, the compiler gives the following error: error C2664: '_beginthreadex' : cannot convert parameter 3 from 'unsigned int (void *)' to 'unsigned int (__stdcall *)(void *)' Passing "&GetArrayThread<IClass1>" makes no difference. I've tried CoInitializeSecurity, it doesn't work; And I've tried every kind of CLSCTX to fill in CoCreateInstance, only CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER gives me s result of E_ACCESSDENIED, others give me Class not registered. I can see the type library in oleview. And my OS is XP with SP2. I'm running as administrator.
