I borrowed my friends' computers and connected them with a bidirectional cable. The program ran just fine on one computer, but when I tried to run the program on the other, it gave me errors about msvcp71.dll and and mfc71.dll. I just copied those into the system32 folder and it works fine, but I was just wondering what those libraries are for and why they are only on some computers Unfortunately, solving the problem with the .dll files took too long and I didn't get to see if any data would transfer. I can't change the algorithm, and the dll manufacturer cannot change the stack size of the executable or the threads that are used (the dll uses only calling threads). If I take your suggestion and protect my calls into the dll with __try and __except, will calling _resetstkoflw() leave me in a stable state (including enough stack space to continue working) I assume any dynamic allocations inside the dll will leak, but this is something I'll have to talk with the manufacturer about. This is basically because no matter what the compiler allows you to do, the .net part of it wasn't designed to work with static libraries. There are some things which aren't stored when you create the library and I think it is actually the metadata or something else just as important here. This is why there is no static library .net template when you create a new project. If you want to do this, you should create a netmodule, this is done by using the /LN compiler option and the /noassembly linker option and then link the resulting .netmodule to the executable.     - the system cannot find the file specified...error 2 There is nothing wrong with the source code that I see. The problem is nearly certainly that your Visual C++ is not set up properly. VC is not finding windows.h, probably because VC is not looking in the directory that contains windows.h. To verify that, right-click on the text windows.h in the #include. In the context menu, select " Open document <windows.h> " (or something like that). If VC says it can't find windows.h then that supports the error that VC can't find it. I am not sure what the problem is in terms of what caused VC to get set up improperly. It should have been installed properly so there seems to have been something that was done after installation to cause the problem. There is a place in the VC options that lists directories to look in for #includes. I don't have convenient access to VC 2005 at the moment, so I can't be sure where to look. Look for that to see if the list of directories includes the directory containing windows.h.     - Runtime libraries Let me clearify the question a little I have an application which consists of x.exe and y.dll. Both are build by myself. However for y.dll to build I need to use a third party z.lib. When I build the debug configuration of my solution (x.exe and y.dll) I see the following behaviour. Before y.dll is loaded, the modules view shows only msvcp80d.dll and msvcr80d.dll (and some other) to be loaded. After loading y.dll in the application msvcp80.dll and msvcr80.dll appear in the modules view aswell. So now both the debug and release version of the runtime libraries are loaded. During execution of the application a lot of problems arise in new and delete which I cannot explain. I was therefore wondering if having both runtime libraries loaded could cause these problems. Hi All,

Could somebody please point me in the right direction.

I want to be able to pass a data structure from my VC++ code into a C# DLL which contains SQL functions and Classes. The C# code will populate the data and return to the calling VC++ function.

Does anybody have any simple examples or information

I have ready loads of information for passing from C# to VC++ and have no issues with this.
