    - Dialogs: modalities & etc. Hi again! I have some problem with creating modeless dialog windows. To decribe situation I'm going to show you 2 examples: 1. I have 3 modeless dialog windows (the main and 2 additional). This time I'm opening all of them in WinApp::InitInstance procedure. And in this case all works as I want: if I click on any of all 3 windows - the window gets the focus, moving up over other two other dialogs. That is my aim. 2. All the same - 3 modeless dialogs (absolutely the same) and the same procedures for creating them. But this time I have opened only the main dialog in WinApp::InitInstance. Two additional dialogs are opening by the commands in the main dialog. And in this case I have the problem. After opening any of the additional dialogs the main dialog goes down under the additional. Even if it has the focus! So - this is the question. What is the difference between opening modeless dialogs in WinApp::InitInstance and opening them later (from ON_COMMAND procedures - for ex. from menu commands) What have I to do with main dialog. I want it to go up while getting focus! But not remaining under the additional dialogs! The above code compiles fine on my machine. The problem is that , for some reason, ns_t is visible at the global namespace when it shouldn't be. Strangely, removing base::~base will cause the behavior I expect (compilation error). I'm not sure exactly where the bug is and what a workaround might be.     - Autogenerated copy constructors and equals operators Hi everyone, Anyone know how to inhibit the compiler's autogeneration of copy constructors and equals operators for classes other than defining your own I have a template queue class for which cloning is not really a valid operation, and as such some of it's nested types are not suitable for auto-generated copy constructors/operators. Because of this, when I compile some code that uses the outer template class, I get compiler errors such as: error C2678: binary '=' : no operator found which takes a left-hand operand of type 'volatile T<itemtype>::NestedType' (or there is no acceptable conversion) When I double-click on the error, the editor simply goes to the end of the class declaration that has declared a member of type T< sometype > . Further investigation down the error list yields: This diagnostic occurred in the compiler generated function T<itemtype> &T<itemtype>::operator =(const T<itemtype> &)'. I can fix the error by defining a dummy copy constructor that is a clone of my default constructor, but I feel that misleads programmers using the class into thinking they can clone an instance of that type.     - 64-bit apps need larger stacks than 32-bit In order to make sure this was really the problem, I had created an executable with a larger stack size. In fact, this had solved the problem. I could make do with that solution, but there seems to be a common problem here: regarding the specific dll, all programmers who use it should be aware of this problem (I hope the manufacturer will indeed add a note to the documentation). And generally, any programmer who uses a lot of stack space should be aware of this problem - given that the default will indeed remain as it is now. By the way, my application is actually a COM server, and I do not create any the threads directly. At the top I have some excel floating point arrays declared LPFP deposits_zero; LPFP swaps_zero; LPFP futures_zero; LPFP fra_zero; LPFP blend_zero; Now I have a function that is called that sets the deposits, swaps, futures, and fra curve with an array that is dynamically allocated. deposits_zero = USA_CREATE_SWAPZERO(0,0,0,0,curve,&tmpBlend, 1, 1, 3, 0,0,0); It creates a curve, the function is supposed to dynamically allocate my that array. Now later on in my code, I have a function that uses all 4 of those arrays that were set by previous functions. The problem is those arrays aren't there anymore. I have a class called class1 and another called game. It is my understanding that the autogenerated form1.h is also a class. Maybe this is because i don't understand. "A related problem can occur when you allocate memory (either explicitly with new or malloc , or implicitly with strdup , strstreambuf: tr , and so on) and then pass a pointer across a DLL boundary to be freed. This can cause a memory access violation or heap corruption if the DLL and its users use different copies of the CRT libraries." So I cannot create an object in the dll and pass the pointer to my application that frees this object as I understand here. Should have an other approach there then. I guess there was an error during downloading.

To make sure downloads are not corrupted, Microsoft usally provides hashes for the downloads. If it's the case with PSDK, you could check that against a value computed for the downloaded file (of course, the same type of hash).

Meh, reminds me of my current fun with tryig to get the April update to the MSDN library. I've downloaded it 5 times so far and it has been corrupt.

Visual studio should come with a platform SDK. Sounds like your environment is setup wrong.
