    - How do you set the input focus to the ActionsPane with VSTO when loading in Word? Is there any way to set the input focus to a control on the Actions Pane when loading a VSTO solution in Word The typical behavior of Word is to have the focus on the document. I can not find a way to get the focus on an Edit Box in the Actions Pane. I notice that most of the default Task Panes have a similar problem. When I select most of the default task panes the cursor does not enter the controls of the task pane. However, when selecting the "Help" task pane the title bar of the pane turns orange and the cursor is correctly placed in the "Search for:" edit box. Any/all suggestion appreciated!!     - DocumentBeforeSave - which document is getting saved? I have a Word/VSTO app where I want to do special stuff when a certain document that I open gets saved. If the user tries to save any other document in that instance of Word, then nothing special should happen.     - Show the savdialog after DocumentBeforeSave Hello In my application I catch the DocumentBeforeSave event displaying a dialog box giving the user 3 options: "save in a external archiving system" - "save on disk" - "cancel". If the user presses the "save on disk" I display the saveDialog. I hav two questions regarding this: 1: The first dialog box is still visible even though I close it in my code. 2: The saveDialog works fine - it seems... But no documents are saved. I have added the Microsoft Access 11.0 Object Library to my project references(including core).     - How to add words to MS Word custom dictionary I am trying to use the MS Word spell check in my application. It is fine for words witch are in the main dictionary. For my functionality to be complete I need to add the option of adding words to the custom dictionary so that they are not constantly shown as mistakes. I am opening the .CustomDictionaries.ActiveCustomDictionary file and adding the new word but at that moment MS Word deselects that dictionary for use. It is possible to reselect it again by going in the Options menu in MS Word but that is annoying. I've successfully created an Excel App-Level addin that supports automatic updating (details below). The issue is that I want to ensure that the addin loads from the local copy when the remote copy is unavailable. This works correctly as I've setup all necessary cas policies. I've discovered a means through which to utilize both Setup project deployment as well as click-once publishing to achieve initial setup and automatic updating. Unfotunately, after all this I've encountered another issue that I'm hoping someone can help with. Before I begin, I'm using VSTO 2005 with Office 2003 1. Followed Mads' post on how to create an installerclass to take care of CAS policy settings. http://weblogs.asp.net/mnissen/articles/427490.aspx 2. There's a great rundown of essentially what I did to create a setup project and then publish using clickonce: http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/Outlook_Add-in.asp 3. In order to get around an issue with manifest files not being updated and thus causing my addin to not update, I followed these further instructions (step 5) http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/Outlook_Add-in_Issues.asp 4. Because I am publishing to a network share, I also ensured that I had set CasPol to fully trust the share http://blogs.msdn.com/shawnfa/archive/2004/12/30/344554.aspx So, after all this, I've successfully achieved an app-level add-in that automatically updates when I publish new files. The issue I've encountered now, however, is that I decided I'd try to test the scenario of when the user is working offsite and the network share is inaccessable. When trying to load excel, I get the following error message: "failed to update customization from the specified deployment manifest" Essentially this is little more then a connection failed issue, however, as soon as excel realizes an add-in has encountered any error, it disables it which is a real pain. I had hoped it would automatically load the local copy instead, so how would I achieve this in the event that the network share is unavailable My assumption is that this can be done through custom configuration of the manifest file, however I havn't a clue where to start to begin this trek and thought I'd touch base with the community to see if anyone has any suggestions.     - Excel 2003 and ListObjects (VSTO 2005) Hi. I need some advise with a little problem with my VSTO application. I have a excel document with a listobject. This listobject is bind with a datatable, that it's filled with a sqlcommand from my codebehind. This work very well, but when the user navigate through the listobjects' headers in the excel document, the excel process (excel.exe) sometimes it uses 50% - 90% cpu time for a minute aprox. I look for a codebehind event that produce this behavior, but nothing. So i think that is some process within excel.exe. I think that i need deactive some feature in excel, but no difference. someone have any idea for this.     - Excel says "Document Not Saved". How to solve? Good day, all. I've found the following issue (step by step): Create a new Excel Template based on VSTO in Visual Studio Remove two of three sheets from the template's workbook that VS has just generated, so your template will consist of the only one page. Save the template and project. Run VSTO template Try to add a new sheet using template created in (2). Now, drag Sheet1 and drop it before Sheet2 (which was just added) Try to save document. Get a "Document not saved" message Excel just says "Document not saved" without any explanation and events. But! If you saved a document before (6), i.e. before sheets swapping, then Excel will save a document without any troubles. Moreover, if your template will consist of more then one page, the error will not occur. Does anyone has a clue about described behavior The another question from this area: If I'll add a new sheet, after it remove "primary" sheet (Sheet1, this is the only one sheet in template), and then save my document, so Excel will not load document correctly: it will ignore VSTO with an error. Application.OnKey have 2 parameters, string key and object procedure.. For reactivate short cut must second parameter to be omissed.     - Problem installing VSTO 2005 SE add-in for Word 2003 Hi! After solving a minor problem regaring installation parameters for my add-in last week, the installation succeded today. Now a different problem appeared. And I've seen that is a frequently visited topic in this forum, but none of the other threads have helped me so far. I'm developing a Word 2003 add-in with VSTO 2005 SE and everything is going great as long as I'm running a debug, but as soon as I install the add-in on my development machine it will not load when I start up Word. I've strictly followed the latest walkthroughs on deploying VSTO2005 SE add-ins, so theoretically it should work by now, but NO.     - [HELP!] COM Exception E_FAIL Adding Controls to ActionsPane Hi, I've built a document customization for Word 2003 using VSTO 2005 and it worked fine on my machine However on some other machines, my users report the error that occurs when the customization starts and the first control is added onto the ActionsPane. Below is the error description. Somewhere in forums I read that the error used to occur on machines without SP2 for Office 2003 and they recommended to workaround it by making the ActionsPane.Controls.Add(control) the very first operation in ThisDocument_Startup. It did work for the old installations, however I have found that with the Office build versions later than SP2 (such as 11.0.8106, 11.0.8125) people sometimes report the same bug, despite the workaround. Surprisingly, when I turned the workaround off for the newer builds, the bug disappeared again, but it worked only partially (e.g. worked for 8125, but didn't work for 8106). I hate to become dependent on user's build version of Word and I don't feel confident I will guarantee that the bug will not occur on other, yet untried machines and versions.     - Selection.Move infinite loop on Word 2007 document I am writing a Word 2007 add-in with VSTO SE. A button in my custom task pane moves the Selection through a document in steps of one paragraph. The code is shown below. It hangs midway through the document in an infinite loop. Is this expected behaviour So I'm trying to ensure I only ever do += (without a corresponding -=) once. Our solution is composed of Outlook addin and Document level addin for Word.

Office 2003 Professional is a prerequisite installation in our case since our addin is build using VSTO and .NET 2.0 (C#).

One client of ours has Office 2003 Standard installed and would like to upgrade to Office 2003 PRO to start using our solution. We want to avoind unistall and reinstall of Office and install only the necessary componennts required by VSTO solutions.

Which Office Components will we need to install is it just the .NET programability support is there anything else in PRO that needs to be installed

The best place to discuss this would be the office.setup newsgroup.

FWIW, as I recall you simply can't do it the way you envisage. The XML components that are missing from the applications aren't just something you can "snap in". From what I've seen, you have no choice but to uninstall/reinstall. However, do check with the specialists in the newsgroup.

I think "upgrading" still involves removing Standard and installing Professional. But, as I said, the folks in the Office newsgroup are the ones who deal with this kind of thing on a regular basis.
