Munir Husseini

Hi,

I'm developing an Outlook addin which utilized synchronized SharePoint lists. In order to identify these lists, the addin tries to find the guid of the list in the Outlook folder's MAPI properties. To do so, I call:

fields.get_Item(<propTag>, missing)

Unfortionately, Outlook seems to use different property tags for the same property on different installations (could some one confirm this, please). For example, on my local machine (windows XP) the property tag is 0x804A001E, on a test machine (Server 2003) it is 0x8041001E. How can I find out which property tag I must use to get the guid of the SharePoint list

Thank you in advance,
Munir Husseini

Outlook has many un-published fields which could result in different property tags for the same property on different machines. You might be able to search from some external MAPI/CDO sites to find out ways around this. However I want to warn you that those are un-supported ways, use it at your own risk. I'd also suggest you to post the question in Office Outlook programming forum to verify the most recent information.

Hope this helps,

Mei

Hallo Mei,

thank you for your response. Where do I find an Outlook programming forum I couldn't find one on the MSDN forums (the newsgroups at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/office/aa905346.aspx are all broken links).

Best regards,
Munir

Munir, see http://www.outlookcode.com/d/outtech.htm#discuss for Outlook coding forums.

The page at http://www.cdolive.com/cdo10.htm should also have useful information on the so-called "named properties," which are what you're using.
