    - connecting excel file to C++ program Hi every body I am a new programmer and I have been studying C++ for one semester. I know how to link and use files with these extinsions (.dat , . txt). However, I need to know how to connect excel spreadsheet with my C++ program "win 32 console application" and then I need to read my input from this spreadsheet and produce my output on it. I searched a lot but I did not find any thing. Actually, I do not know what is the solution for my problem, is it a code or a tool or something else If there is any one who can help me, I will be thankful. Moreover, If there is a refrence or a book that helps me ,please tell me and I will be glad to study it. I use MS Office 2003, Visual Studio 2005. I've been puzzled by something for a while...every time I go looking for good source to double-check that the CommandBar and buttons I'm adding to one of the Office apps, I seem to come across one or more variants of the two main approaches here.     - Excel Edit Delete Disabled I created an Excel Workbook project using Visual Studio and VSTO. This project uses the ListObject control bound to a DataTable to display and update data in SQL Server 2000 database. When deployed to the user's workstation, this application has an annoying habit of disabling the Delete item on the Edit menu, preventing the user from deleting columns, rows or cells. Actually this is more than annoying - it's a show stopper. Researching the problem online produced very little in the way of amswers. Are other people seeing this behavior I did find a reference in this forum article: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx PostID=309265&SiteID=1 which suggests deleting Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\Excel11.xlb. This works, but its not acceptable to require the user to delete this file every time their Edit menu goes wonky.     - Publishing VSTO 2005 SE addin to a network location Hi, I want to publish my Outlook add-in build using VSTO 2005 SE to a network location so that updates can be automatically pushed to all users later. The steps mentioned for this are as follows: In Visual Studio, use the Publish Wizard to deploy your solution to a server. Make changes to security policy so that each end user can run the solution. Create the required registry entries on each client computer. Copy the application manifest for the add-in to each client computer. The publish wizard generates the application manifest and other output files. But I'm not sure how to achieve the steps 2,3 and 4. Is there some some standard way which we should follow for changing the security policy, making the registry entry and copying the required files to the client machine.     - Excel Solver macro from VB.NET I'm trying to run a Excel macro, which uses SOLVER.XLA Add-In, in VB.NET application.     - VSTO Addin crashing outlook on select machines I have created VSTO addin and have successfully deployed it to most machines in my office. The addin adds a command bar button to the standard tool bar. On select machines the addin crashes outlook on startup. I have the startup code enclosed in a try catch to handle possible errors but it seems I cannot handle this error. When I strip out all code besides a msgbox call in the application startup method, the addin starts up fine and displays the msgbox, but then when outlook is closed the addin crashes outlook in a simmilar fashion as when it crashes on startup.     - Excel Automation: How to use an external link as an argument in a user-defined function? Using VSTO2005SE, I created an automation add-in that contains a user-defined function. For the sake of simplicity, let's assume the UDF takes a single cell address as its argument and then multiplies its value by 1000. Public Function MyFunc( ByVal Range As Object ) As Double Dim dblY As Double = CType (Range, Excel.Range).Value * 1000 Return dblY End Function When entered into a worksheet cell (e.g., A1: =MyFunc(B1) ), the UDF obediently takes the value in B1 and returns it, times 1000. The UDF also works fine if the value shown in B1 originates from an external link to another workbook. However, the UDF returns a #VALUE! error, if the external link is used as an argument within the function, while the other workbook is not open: =MyFunc('X:\[ExtLinkSource.xls]Tabelle1'!$A1) --> #VALUE! If the other workbook is open, the UDF throws no error: =MyFunc([ExtLinkSource.xls]Tabelle1!$A1) --> returns correct result Incidentally, this is also the standard behavior for some of Excel's built-in worksheet functions, such as OFFSET or INDIRECT - these are known to not work with external links, unless the other workbook is open, unlike SUM or INDEX.     - Fuzzy text in a label control Hi, I've added some controls to the top of a sheet in an Excel file. The problem I'm having is that the text on, say a label, is blurry or fuzzy. It almost looks like when smoothing is being applied but actually makes it worse. I've tried various fonts and sizes and that doesn't matter. The rest of the text on the sheet looks fine.     - Issue in Excel report generation Hi, We recently migrated to Excel 2002 from Excel 2000 and are facing a wierd problem in the excel report generation through our Java code -- Using MIME type Excel. The issue is while generating the report after certain number of rows the values in the cells loses its numeric characteristics even though same code is used repetetively to display the all the rows.     - DllUnregisterServer issue; err code 0x80070005 i have a proj for creating an activex control. i have converted the vc6 proj to vc7 proj. now on building the activex control using vc7 proj i am not able to unregister the ocx using regsvr32. the return code is 0x80070005. if the same ocx is built using vc6 proj then everything works fine. didnt find anything special when comparing the vc6 and vc7 proj settings. the err code 0x80070005 suggests some permission issues. i tried checking the permissions for the users using regedit. the user had all permissions. please help. waiting for reply.     - Catching email being sent using RibbonX control I want to have a Ribbon Bar button in an Outlook message such that when the button is clicked and the message sent, I can trap the message and modify/review the message before it actually gets submitted. For example to add some extra text, or just scan it. But I can't find how to receive a callback when the message is sent by the user. Is this possible Alternatively I know I could implement an exchange extension and catch the message being sent in the OnWriteComplete handler, but I don't know how to link this to the Ribbon bar button. That is, I don't want every message to handled just because the user clicked the button on one message. I want only the message the user has explicitly selected to be handled, so I would need some way for the exchange extension to communicate back to the ribbon bar to see if the user has clicked the button for this message. Or perhaps there member of the inspector that can be used for user data Something like GetWindowLong( ..., GWL_USERDATA) allows you with a window for example. Or can I somehow retrieve an HWND parameter from the inspector somehow I realise I could just add a button to the message directly from the exchange extension which would give me exaclt what I need, but compared to a ribbon bar button it looks horrible due to the size and colour depth restrictions. I think I'm missing a fundamental concept ... could anyone help point me in the right direction I have a VSTO Add-in for Word 2007. It sets up a ribbon and an actions pane for my application. Given the following scenario, I am at a loss for how to get the actions pane to refresh/update: 1. User opens a document and actions pane is shown. At this point, the various controls are populated based on values in the active document. For instance, in the actions pane's load event, a textbox called txtAuthor is populated with the author name based on a range in the document. 2. User clicks a custom ribbon button to display a form, and from that form changes the author name for the document. When the form is closed, the new author name is written to the appropriate range in the document. 3. How to now trigger the actions pane to re-load or refresh itself after step 2, so that the new author name is now reflected in the textbox I have a reference to the actions pane but I don't see any method that I can call to accomplish this. And I am not able to add a new public method to the actions pane to force the controls to be repopulated. So, is there the equivalent MS Office 2003 for Mac which supports customizations and also whether there is .NET framework for Mac that can run VSTO assemblies
