The setup:

Exchange Server 2003, Outlook 2003, VSTO 2005 SE, Visual Studio 2005, .NET 2.0, Windows XP SP2.

The problem:

When composing a new email Outlook resolves the email address with the user's full name (if it is known). For example, if I write the email: , the it would be resolved to "John Smith" and shown as an underlined link in the "To" text box.

I have searched the web and found that it is possible to use some external libraries to get the address from the name (eg: CDO, Redemption, etc.. ). My question is whether there is a way to stop Outlook from doing this name-email resolution in the first place. In other words, is there a way to stop converting to "John Smith"

Thank you in advance.

If John Smith is an Exchange user, no, there's no way to prevent that.
