how can I hide the column header cells (A, B, C, ...) as well as the row header cells (1, 2, 3, ...) of an Excel sheet

As an end-user or as a developer Which programming language are you using

It's in Tools/Options/View. If you need the programming syntax, record a macro in Excel in order to get the required object and property.
