    - VSTOSE Deployment project I need some help. I followed the instructions on the article so i could install my Add-In on the users machine, it worked, the only thing is that i can't install updates because the application won't uninstall. I get an error message that says that the security policy could not be removed because the code group name is not valid or something like that. And in Vista I get an error with the code 2869. If somebody know how to get the caspol to delete the security policy on the assembly or how to work around this issue so i can uninstall the Add-In please let me know. Thanks.     - [Word] Runtime error on loading custom add-in Hello, I have a problem with loading my own add-in after I deployed the setup and installed the add-in. When I run the add-in directly out of visual studio it all works fine. However when I generate the setup.exe and use it to install the add-in it won't display in Word. When I go to the COM-addins dialog in Word I can see that it is indeed installed. When I click on it, i see the message: "Not loaded. There was a runtime-error ...... ". My guesses are that it has to do with security or something. I already put the macro's security to the lowest level, and followed the directions on http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa537179(office.11).aspx to add something for the security. I allready spent hours searching google for this problem. I think I read about all the msdn pages there are about it.     - VSTO Excel - Dropdown functionality in the Ribbon I have created a VSTO plug-in for Excel and am using several dropdowns on my custom ribbon. I need to be able to do the following things: When a user selects a value from one dropdown, I need to dynamically clear the values in another dropdown and then reload the values. I know how to load values, but I cannot figure out how to clear values in another dropdown when the selection changes. I also cannot seem to figure out how to set the initial selected value in the dropdown. I am using C# and VS 2005. Any help would be appreciated. When I do this, however, mValues becomes a 1-based array. First, I don't understand what's going on that would make that happen. Second, I didn't think you could have 1-based arrays! Can anyone give me some insight as to what's going on here ------------- Some related questions -- Can I change this 1-based array into a 0-based array without the overhead of copying each element from one array to the other It would often be convenient to have a 1-dim array containing a row of the 2-dim array. Is there a fast way to make this assignment That is, is there something that would be faster than copying each element for some row over Or perhaps is there a way to pass one row of the 2-dim array as an argument I'd appreciate any insight or suggestions.     - Excel Edit Delete Disabled I created an Excel Workbook project using Visual Studio and VSTO. This project uses the ListObject control bound to a DataTable to display and update data in SQL Server 2000 database. When deployed to the user's workstation, this application has an annoying habit of disabling the Delete item on the Edit menu, preventing the user from deleting columns, rows or cells. Actually this is more than annoying - it's a show stopper. Researching the problem online produced very little in the way of amswers. Are other people seeing this behavior I did find a reference in this forum article: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx PostID=309265&SiteID=1 which suggests deleting Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\Excel11.xlb. This works, but its not acceptable to require the user to delete this file every time their Edit menu goes wonky. VSTO SE provides only Application level(Ad- ins) but not document level customizations. For this VSTO ( with no SE) is required.     - BUG? Data Island cache not updating immediately I have 2 Word documents that have a parent-child relationship to each other. Document B pulls a string from the data island inside of Document A using the ServerDocument (client side...no web or server here). Both documents are open at the same time. What happens is that when I update the cached string field in A, B doesn't see the updated value until after A has been closed, reopened, and then saved. It is like the data was cached in the AppDomain or other "Ether" and then when A reopened it sucked in the data and then the ServerDocument object in B was able to see it.     - Problem Saving Attachment's with the same (sent) file name. How to clear outlook internet temporary files? Hi, I am sent an update file from a third party using email. They are not able to use FTP, and I am one of many users so their side of the system cannot be changed. The update file is attached and called update.txt, an outlook rule places the emails in . There is a maximum size that file can be (on the third parties side) which is about 10K. So if there are 300,000 updated items to send this equates to about 135K which results in 135 emails all containing an attached file called 'update.txt' and all sent at the same time. The reason for this is that outlook will not create update.txt (100), when i get the following exception ex.Message "Cannot save the attachment. Can't create file: update.txt. Right-click the folder you want to create the file in, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check your permissions for the folder." string The temporary files are not deleted until the outlook session is successfully terminated. My guess is that I could replicate this behavior just by trying to do a saveas on each of the files in outlook without using VSTO at all. I have a solution, which is that I delete the temporary file after each saveas call, but I think this is a little dirty. My problem is that I cannot be certain on another machine that the files will be in OLK1C9. Is there a way to either cause a purge of the temporary directory from VSTO or at least retrieve the location of the driectory Or if anyone has a better solution please let me know. However that seems to be way less active than this. I don't know if my Visual Studio has always behaved this way, I don't think so. I have an xls sheet visible, and the menu items at the top of VS2005 has "Tools". Within "tools" is "Microsoft Office Excel Tools". However that menu item, while not grayed out, doesn't do anything. Similarly for "Format". I've tried creating a new project to see if I get the same behavior and I do get the same behavior. Hi The problem I am facing is to take a Word Document, insert a new 1st page (which will be another Word Document with a single page), and save the new version as a PDF. I have found a solution using VS 2005 and Office automation, by programmatically opening Word 2007, using the Range.InsertFile method to insert the new document, and then using the new WdSaveFormat.wdFormatPDF to save as a PDF. However, this solution would not be ideal seeing as the application is a server side component which is unattended, and this goes against what Microsoft advises for Office automation. Would the same functionality be possible with VSTO Unfortunately for me I'm using Word 2007 / VS 2005 - all of the VSTO samples seem to be for Word 2003 and/or VS 2003.     - A more thorough question on VSTO deployment Hi all, I'm backing down to make sure I find a way to deliver to my customer the next few days: I have developed an Excel template with some .NET code behind using VSTO 2005. Not the SE, the first version. My solution uses another .NET assembly (helper.dll) besides the code assembly data.dll "behind" the document (data.xlt). I added a setup project to the solution. Which isn't enough of course. I created to separate install classes, one to install a policy code group thats gives Full trust to data.dll and one to bind the data.dll path to the data.xlt document (via ServerDocument). I added the custom Action to Install the CustomSetup.dll with these installer classes. Now to my questions: Are there any walkthroughs to this kind of work The links at PLEASE READ NEXT: VSTO 2005 Resource List doesn't work. So I have a new Tablet PC with Visual Studio 2005, Office 2007 and Windows XP Tablet Edition. I am going to work on the new VSTO book with it. VSTO 2005 SE installs fine, but there are no document projects. So I tried to install VSTO 2005 First Edition, but it requires Office 2003 SP1 to run. I don't WANNA install Office 2003.

Is there a way to get just VSTO Addins and Documents for 2007 on a VS 2005 box

Hi Bill

No. There is currently no version of VSTO for document-level projects that works with Office 2007 as the development environment. The current document-level projects also can't target the new features in Office 2007 (such as Ribbons and custom task panes), although such projects developed for 2003 can be installed and run in Office 2007. The version that targets Office 2007 will be part of Orcas.

You need either a second machine with Office 2003 or a Virtual Machine so that you can create/test document-level projects.
