Hi,

We are developing a reporting application for our company internal purpose. For this, the application fetches various types of data from different data sources and accumulate these into its local data source.

Based on the data, it has to generate report for various formats for selected periods. The report would be prepared based on the number of products selected by the user. It should generate report for excel also. After dynamically filling excel, it has to create chart based on data in the sheet.

We are analysing the feasibility of using XMLMap, XML List, XMLSS in Excel to achive this. If anybody have idea about this, please share with me.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Udooz.

Hi Udooz,

This forum explicit targeting the VSTO technology. For more info about where to ask please see PLEASE READ FIRST: Non-VSTO Question/Issue Resources .

The following online resource may give some information about XML in Office
SpreadsheetML

XML in Office Developer Portal

In my own experience it can be quite complex when working with the XML approach (to some degree due to my own limited knowledge in the field.)

If it's not a server based solution then I usually use the following approach:

- Open an already created Excel report template (filextension xlt)

- Retrieve the data from one or more sources (usually from one central database) based on the user's choice

- Save the Excel report
