    - Office 2003 or 2007 Well, you can have two installers, I use Wise as my installation package of choice, so I created a single installer that determines the version of Office installed, and lays down the appropriate PIAs. There's probably a way to do this same thing in Windows Installer package through custom actions; you could probably hack out a C# Dll that checks the installed office version and you could kick off the PIA installer based off the Office version installed ... but as I said, I use Wise, so I can't give you direction on Windows Installer. To check for the installed version of Office/Word, I use the following registry key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Word.Application\CurVer If the value is 'Word.Application.11' then you have Word 2003 installed If the value is 'Word.Application.12' then you have Word 2007 installed Hope that helps.     - VSTO customization detachs on save when document is password protected Hi all, I am using VSTO 2005 SE with Office 2003 (Office 11). I have a Word template document with an customized VSTO assembly that my C# program copies when a user attempts to open the document via my program. The copied document correctly maintains the assembly information and opens successfully in Word. The copied document is password protected to prevent editing. Using bookmarks, the code-behind enables editing in certain areas of the document where the user will fill in information. Standard stuff. The problem is that when the user saves the document after making changes in the editable area, the assembly information is dropped from their copy of the document unless I remove the password protection from the document before saving. If I programmatically turn off the password protection just before the save, the custom assembly will remain attached to the document file as I would expect, but my document is left unprotected after the save. I added the "unprotect" code in the BeforeSave event, as CTRL+S and AutoSave bypass the virtual Save() function. By doing that though, there is no AfterSave event where I can turn the document password protection back on after the save. Is this a known bug that VSTO assemblies become detached when CTRL+S, Autosave, or even the FILE|SAVE menu choice save the document when the document is password protected Or am I missing something obvious Is there a way to keep my password protection on the document during save, and keep the customization attached to my document thanks for any pointers!     - Problem deploying Shared COM-AddIn application I've been developing excel add-in using microsoft interop and with the shared- addin template but i face the following problem When I go to build ProjectName Setup, it packages the dependencies into a Windows Installer package. I then send the contents generated in Release\ ProjectName Setup to one of my colleagues to beta test. He runs the installer and it says the install was successful. However, when excel app loads, there is no menu added to the main menu. I then go into the COM Addins manager and navigate to the installation directory to add the application .DLL. However, when I attempt to add the .DLL, there is an error occurs: I checked the Registry to make sure the LoadBehavior, Description, and FriendlyName keys were where they were supposed to be, and they were. I checked the assembly to make sure everything that the application needed was in there, and they were. I am stumped at this point and would appreciate any assistance the community can offer. I can successfully create the pivottable, however an exception is thrown when I attempt to set the SourceData property. The exception is just rubbish and doesn't give me any info.     - ribbon dropDown in Word I am using Word 2007, VSTO2005SE and Visual Studio VB to create a shared addin automation app. I have an "other" app that launches Word calling a particular Sub in my dotm file The dotm declares the addin like this "Public MCTai As New MCTClass07.Class07" The dotm calls Class07 routines that load Class07 tables from SQL. This call resides in the routine called by the "other" app Subs executed from the dotm that display table.row.count show that these tables have data I have created Tabs in the Ribbon with some success using callbacks for buttons to the .net code The problem starts when I try to populate a dropDown with data from these local tables I can populate the dropDown with static data in the GetItemCount, GetItemLabel and GetItemID functions When I replace the static data with table information like GetItemLabel = DV_APC.Item(X).Item(1).ToString, I get error messages NOT when Word starts but when I try to select the dropDown.     - Word Automation and Default Window Position Application.Visible works fine on initial display. I'm actually using that property. Unfortunately, the Word Application window still shows up even if the Visible is set to FALSE when Documents:CLOSE(FALSE) is called. This is needed to avoid the save document question dialog-box from displaying. Then I follow it with Application.Quit() which closes the Word Application window. I've got my custom task pane working, my button working, and the data pulling correctly. I'm consistently hitting one stumbling block though: How do I get at an arbitrary Cell/Row/Column from the button click event of the add-in Here's a description of the data I'm working with, to make my question more clear. I have a series of rows, with 3 columns. The first is an ID that I can query against the database. The second two are data fields. I want to scroll through all the rows, compare the data in the database against the data in the 2 columns. If it's different, format the cell and update the data. My problem is scrolling through the rows, and pulling individual cells in those rows. The only way I've been able to get at ANY data in the sheet is by using Globals.ThisAddIn.Application.ActiveCell.Value2.ToString(); I've seen examples of Excel document projects that do something as simple as: Microsoft.Office.Tools.Excel.NamedRange NamedRange1 = this .Controls.AddNamedRange( this .Range["A1", missing], "NamedRange1"); ... but AddNamedRange doesn't seem to be visible to add-ins (and I'd have to use System.Reflection.Missing.Value). I've tried things like: Excel.Range myRange = (Excel.Range)thisSheet.Rows["1", "2"]; ...but that produces a COM error. I have a feeling this is going to be much more simple than I'm making it, but I've found examples, articles and intellisense to all be rather "sparse" when dealing with add-ins. This is in C#, btw. For what you're doing, Outlook shouldn't behave differently on an Exchange store vs. a .pst file store. Is there a possibility that the client is configured in such a way that they have only headers for messages in the Sent Items folder It would be an unusual configuration. I would strongly recommend that, if you're going to develop for a client with Exchange, you need to test on Exchange. At the very least, get a mailbox or two from a hosted Exchange provider. If I understand correctly, this would be a 'Document Level' application. What is the difference between that and an 'Application Level' application I found this in the forum; "VSTO 2005 SE is a free add-in for Visual Studio Professional and higher that only provides application-level add-in project templates. To use the document-level project templates (Excel workbooks, Word documents), you must purchase Visual Studio 2005 (this is a separate product from Visual Studio 2005 SE)." It seems like I meet this requrement. Is it possible to keep double-lined cell borders when saving to html I'm a little perplexed as to why they're converted to single lines when the "border-style: double;" property is supported in CSS1 and IE/Netscape/Opera 4+.

I have a number of specially formatted tables (containing financial information) that need the double underlines preserved and I can find no easy way do this. Does anyone have any experience or ideas

ps. I am working with VSTO and word 2007.

I'm sorry, but this question is totally off-topic, here. Please use the resources in the "Please Read First" message at the top of the forum. Someone in one of the general Word newsgroups may have an idea about how Word exports to HTML.
