    - Outlook Add-In - No permission to execute assembly VKoen, Just because your add-in DLL has perms to execute does not mean that one of its dependencies is, by extension, also granted persmission. The mechanism you use to grant permission is up to you. You can use caspol to grant the permissions. Or, you can include this as a special action in your installer.     - VSTO over VBA Expanding on Helmut's reply... One of the main issues is separating the code from the "view" (the worksheet). This makes it easier to update the code; you could have the code in a network location and the files on the local machine, for example. You also have the benefit of the .NET Framework's security features. (Not so much hiding your code in a DLL - if you don't obfuscate anyone can extract it, but the run-time security.) Adding to Helmut's list, you can also use Winforms controls within the workbook (instead of ActiveX or Excel forms controls). You have the extended capabilities for binding outside data into the document. The data can be populated/extracted server-side without needing to run the Excel application (what Helmut refers to as "Server Document"). A drawback is that automation in VSTO will be slower than native VBA (what the Framework executes internally will probably be quicker). Note that you have the option of using your existing VBA and building VSTO around that. This is an area that the new version (Orcas) is addressing specifically. I just purchased it for the short-term, but was thinking that if they could get to the file programmatically, then we would be able to as well by using VSTO or some other method. I don't want to delete the .nk2 file. I just want to be able to look at the E-mail addresses in there to quickly identify the people our users have corresponded with recently so they could be notified of our new E-mail addresses.     - Managed code extensions not working for word template I have created a word template that presents a UI in ActionsPanelControl on start up that is used to populate bookmarks. I see the UI when I run the project in Debug or release mode or by opening the template from the Debug or release folder. But when I copy the .dll and .dot file (in same folder) to some other location I don’t see the UI I don’t even get the error message that states that the current .NET security policy does not permit the customization to run.     - Bugs on feedback I am not using SP1, I am using Team System version 8.0.50727.42 with an update of (KB915364) to enable web projects under vs 2005. I faced this port problem since we wanted to use the default web site as the sharepoint web site and use another web site with different port number to be our VSTO project site, it is really annoying and we had to move our application to be under default web site (port 80) and exclude it from sharepoint to workarround this problem . The problem seems to me a VSTO run-time which I don't think it has to do with any VS service packs!! I'm trying to check for a specific email address. 2 - Yes, the code example I posted will always be false... sorry. I replaced the actual "other email address" from my code with a generic MyOtherEmail@Someplace.com when posting the note... so my real email address wouldn't be posted as part of the code... 3 - Your last point is really confusing me. If I create a meeting item, I can see the SaveSentMessageFolder property. As you described, the Outlook Add In created by VSTO SE was not loaded when you open Outlook through an Outlook Automation. I have also reproduced the scenario and in fact the AddIn was loaded, just the toolbar is not there. Below is my explaination. Firstly, Outlook Automation does not perform like Word and Excel.     - VSTO se sorting problem Hi Ji Thank you. Yes you are correct in assuming that I am trying to "to get the sum of pinks (it's 8 in your example), count of pinks:5, and count of pinks which are greater than zero:4" The background to this is a friend of mine, who is a professional Lepidopterist, has recorded data in spreadsheets he has been asked to split it into absolute and estimated. I have suggested adding extra columns and splitting the data between the columns. This he assures me may sound simple but leaves him with a massive task of rebuilding his whole data collecting system and he has colour coded things and would like to analyse data on the basis of the cell colour. I have tried a number of things including some code that sums on cell colour but it does not allow count if not zero as if counts all zeros not just pink ones. If you know of some Visual Basic code that I can embed into the spreadsheet it would solve the problem. I have historical medical data I have not reanalysed because of having to do a lot of manual sorting and this coud ease the burden and make that data-mining worthwhile. Regarding the problem of colour and color, this is seperate issue, don't trouble yourself with it as neither of us can solve that one. It is an age long battle between British English and American English. I hope this makes sense now. Many thanks for your help. The assembly must also be signed. I skipped the steps for adding a check for the Outlook 2007 PIA and the VSTO runtime because so far I'm only deploying to other computers that are running Office 2007 and that have Cypress installed. I'm also not sure about the ComponentID for the Cypress runtime and I'm guessing it's not the same as the one for the VSTO 2005 runtime. I also haven't seen any redistributable runtime for Cypress so far, I'm not sure one is available yet. Hi everybody,

This is my first time posting a question in this forum. Lets get straight to the problem.

Situation:-

I've created an addin for Word 2007 using VSTO2005 SE. My task now is to re-create the same addin (same function, same look) in Outlook 2007. Addin contains function like setting a specific language in document, calling an external exe file and so on. I've configured Outlook to use Word as its email editor.

So my question is, can I just use the existing Word addin or do I need to create a separate addin for Outlook

Any help is much appreciated.

You'd also need a separate Outlook 2007 add-in to support scenarios where Outlook 2007 is installed but not Word 2007.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. When I open Outlook and tried to compose a message, the addin did not appear. What went wrong Do I need to add/modify something in my Word addin code FYI, The addin was working and running successfully in WOrd 2007. My addin doesnt contain any function that related to Outlook, it should just appear in the email editor.

If you want your add-in's functionality to be available in the email editor, you'll need to write a separate add-in for Outlook, which uses a stub of Word, not Word.exe, for the email editor.
