    - Load multiple image in VSTO 2005 SE addin Hi, I've developed an addin for Word 2007. It's working properly right now. My problem is : How do I load more than one image for my addin Right now i'm using the solution (exactly the same) from this article. http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa338202.aspx (loading image part) When I add more image(.png) to my addin, it did not display correctly. By that I mean all the button display the same image(My addin have 6 button with certain function). So, how to solve this problem Do I need to use other method Can someone show me the way to do it Any help would be appreciated.     - Trust an assembly under Windows Vista I have an application that I am trying to test on vista, I am unable to trust the assembly. I am an administrator and am able to do this on non vista machines but. I get a message that I am not able to raise the level permission error when I try to use the .net wizard to trust the assembly. Can anybody tell me why Vista will not let me trust this assembly. It's signed and located in the program files folder.     - Upgrade from Office 2003 Standard to 2003 Professional Hello, Could someone please give me the link where people could upgrade from Office 2003 Standard Edition to Office 2003 Professional Edition I've tried to find that link myself on the Microsoft website, but they seem to have replaced all links with Office 2007 links. My users are yet not ready to upgrade to 2007 but still would like to use my VSTO customizations, so I'd like to suggest them upgrading to 2003 Professional. Thanks, Oleg.     - Problem with ThisAddIn_Shutdown and CommandBar in Outlook 2007 Hi Tad - I think I've established what's happening with your solution, as well as the difference between Outlook 2003 and 2007. It's a question of reference counting. Outlook 2007 made many improvements in terms of object lifetime and memory management. For the end user, it means that when you click "Quit," in most cases Outlook will shut down, and not remain running in the background as it was wont to do in Outlook 2003 (one of the reasons why the first VSTO Application level Add-in was for Outlook). For the developer, it means that sometimes Outlook is overly aggressive about releasing objects. As evidenced by the fact that you're getting an HRESULT-based exception versus a standard exception, Outlook is being a "good" COM client; it's not destroying the object from underneath you, which almost certainly would cause an outright memory access violation, and would be a violation of the rules of COM. Instead, Outlook is orphaning the object you have a reference to, preventing a crash while at the same time allowing Outlook to shut down when the end user requests it. The basic problem is that as far as Outlook the application is concerned, the Explorer has gone away, therefore all associated CommandBars have been released. So despite your reference to the CommandBar, the Explorer's closing releases all the associated CommandBar(s). Maintaining a reference to the Explorer window won't help either; you need to read from the CommandBar before the Explorer is destroyed. The basic issue is when you make the read of your settings. I have two suggestions, both using the Explorer.Close event (only off the Outlook.Explorer_10_Events interface, not Explorer): Set Properties.Settings.Default["xyx"] = foo.Value in the CloseEventHandler; call Save in the Shutdown. Cache each of the values you want to save to appropriate types; continue writing them in Shutdown as you were. You might be able to get more specific assistance from Outlook with regards to a better option of Event to handle (maybe check to see how many Explorers are left and only save the settings on the last close ), but this should put you on the right direction.     - Form opening up a word.dot VSTO So I have a word.dot called VSTO-POC01.dot that has some code at startup event where it opens up a total of three exact same templates. Now I have added a simple Window form--inside the same solution-- to open VSTO-POC01.dot when the user clicks on a button. It opens the .dot file, however it only open one .dot and stops. The other two were never processed. Here is my code.     - Registry entries for all users (Outlook add-in) Good day! I created an Outlook add-in which I want for all users that has admin rights to be able to run the add-in, if the add-in was installed by an administrator. To test, I used a console application to add the registry entries needed. From an article MSDN, the registry keys are all under HKCU. So what I did is to put them under HKLM. But if one user installed the add-in, and another try to run it, in Outlook 2003, it doesn't appear in the COM Add-in dialog box, while in Outlook 2007, it is 'Unloaded'.     - Method to refresh/update Word toolbar state Hey, I am writing a COM add-in for Word which implements my own toolbars. On my (developer) PC the toolbar button states update automatically after exiting the method. However, on the testing machine the state of the button changes but visually it does not. i.e. a method causes the toolbar to become disabled but the buttons appear, visually, to be enabled but its actual state is disabled. The buttons will refresh/update themselves after I do something with Word e.g. minimize and then maximize!!!     - Copying RTF into word and from word to a richtext box using c# Hi, I am doing some proof of concept work at the moment that requires me to be able to programtically copy text from a VS rich textbox in an active panel into the hosting MS word document. I basically want to preserve any formatting of the text so that it displays the same in the RTF text box and in the word document.     - connecting excel file to C++ program Hi every body I am a new programmer and I have been studying C++ for one semester. I know how to link and use files with these extinsions (.dat , . txt). However, I need to know how to connect excel spreadsheet with my C++ program "win 32 console application" and then I need to read my input from this spreadsheet and produce my output on it. I searched a lot but I did not find any thing. I've been puzzled by something for a while...every time I go looking for good source to double-check that the CommandBar and buttons I'm adding to one of the Office apps, I seem to come across one or more variants of the two main approaches here. I havn't been able to isolate under what conditions it happens and what conditions it doesn't, but I am attempting to do so. My thoughts are that it may be to do with potentially having recompiled the referenced project separately, yet when the publish function is run, it recompiles the project to be published but doesn't include the latest assembly for the referenced project.     - Excel Edit Delete Disabled Hi Nikhil... To be clear, here is what happens: 1. The customer opens our Excel VSTO solution (which has databound ListObjects in it). 2. While the customer is within our Excel VSTO document, the Edit->Delete option is disabled when right-mouse clicking on a column header. 3. The client *closes* Excel - including our Excel VSTO document. 4. The client opens Excel - with *no* document - just Excel. A blank document appears. 5. The Edit->Delete option is *still* disabled when right-mouse clicking on a column header. :( The customer has VSTO 2005 SE installed (I walked her through the installation myself). Any ideas Joe.     - Publishing VSTO 2005 SE addin to a network location Hi Denis, I have tried the approach you have mentioned here, but it does not allow me to copy the dll's to the installed directory. It says access/permission denied! Did you face a similar kind of issue This is a add-in for Outllok and i am running a different console application for updating the dlls of the add-in Now, when I try to do a File.Copy to the installed folder, it throws the exception. I had installed the add-in using setup initially. I kill the outlook process programatically before doing the File.Copy. I checked to see the permissions of the file/folder and they are not "read-only". Also, I am currently comaparing the dll files directly using the object of Assembly class. How do I compare the ".manifest" file. Is there a class in .net framework that does it Any help on this would be of great help. Thanks in advance!     - VSTO Addin crashing outlook on select machines I have created VSTO addin and have successfully deployed it to most machines in my office. The addin adds a command bar button to the standard tool bar. On select machines the addin crashes outlook on startup. I have the startup code enclosed in a try catch to handle possible errors but it seems I cannot handle this error. EventType clr20r3, P1 outlook.exe, P2 11.0.8010.0, P3 43d16d53, P4 system, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 4333ae87, P7 5a2, P8 0, P9 system.io.filenotfoundexception, P10 NIL. When I strip out all code besides a msgbox call in the application startup method, the addin starts up fine and displays the msgbox, but then when outlook is closed the addin crashes outlook in a simmilar fashion as when it crashes on startup. The UDF also works fine if the value shown in B1 originates from an external link to another workbook. However, the UDF returns a #VALUE! error, if the external link is used as an argument within the function, while the other workbook is not open: =MyFunc('X:\[ExtLinkSource.xls]Tabelle1'!$A1) --> #VALUE! If the other workbook is open, the UDF throws no error: =MyFunc([ExtLinkSource.xls]Tabelle1!$A1) --> returns correct result Incidentally, this is also the standard behavior for some of Excel's built-in worksheet functions, such as OFFSET or INDIRECT - these are known to not work with external links, unless the other workbook is open, unlike SUM or INDEX. Is there a seperate runtime for Windows Vista
