For VSTO document level solutions, Office 2003 Professional version is required. Standard will not work. I would like to know what is the situation for Office 2007.

The thread vsto 2005 SE with office 2003 Standard Edition says "Doc-level solutions built with VSTO2005 are only supported on Office 2003 Pro, Office 2003 Word standalone, Office 2003 Excel standalone and, I think, all editions off Office 2007. "

Can someone confirm whether document level solutions will run with Office 2007 Standard, or does it also require Professional What about all the other (myriad) versions of Office 2007

Tx,

Paul

Yes, VSTO "Orcas" will let you create document level solutions targeting all versions of Office 2007. The issue with Office 2003 was that certain XML features were not included in the Standard version of 2003.

If you create document solutions targeting Word or Excel 2003, then you deploy those solutions to a computer running 2007 versions of Word or Excel, then they should work without recompile if you install the latest VSTO SE Runtime.

Can you please confirm that the target computer can be running any edition of Office 2007 Excel and the doc-level solution created for Excel 2003 will be supported That is, can all the editions of Excel 2007 listed here (Basic, Home & Student, Standard, ... Enterprise) be expected to run the doc-level solution developed for Excel 2003 (I recognize that the target computers need the VSTO 2005 SE runtime, and that the doc-level solution could run into issues - on all editions, say once it is saved in xlsx format, but I am looking for confirmation that there is no difference in the support for/compatibility of 2003 doc-level solutions across the various editions of Excel 2007).

I have reviewed ~100 posts in this forum that seemed to touch on this, and I have found answers that strongly imply that there is no difference, but none that come right out and confirm it.

Thanks.
