Could you specify what you mean by "add the options to outlook"

An add-in built with VB6 and compiled on Outlook 2000 would be compatible with all later versions.

Hi Sue Mosher,

Thank you very much for ur reply. Actually I have some functionality which is related to my application. I want to provide the facitly to the user to access that functionality from Outlook, if possible from all MS Office applications. For this purpost I want to add some menu options or toolbar which gives access to my application.

Can u plz give me link or guide me how to proceed with add-in built with VB6 which is compatible for all versions.

Thanks in Advance,

As I said, you would need to build and compile the add-in with Outlook 2000. I've posted general references for COM add-ins at http://www.outlookcode.com/article.aspx ID=36. The Items Command Bar sample is highly recommended.

Note that this forum is for building add-ins with Visual Studio Tools for Office, which does not support Outlook 2000. There is a newsgroup specifically for general Outlook add-in issues "down the hall" at microsoft.public.outlook.program_vba or, via web interface, at http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx dg=microsoft.public.outlook.program_addins

At http://www.outlookcode.com/article.aspx ID=43, I've posted some articles that explain the issues involved in supporting multiple versions with the shared add-in (IDTExtensibility2) architecture and possible workarounds. Again, though, that's a subject beyond the scope of this forum. VSTO supports only Outlook 2003 and 2007.
