Hi

Can customization be added on a document that is only in memory We have word documents on Sql Server image column w/o customization. If the document is read from image column as byte is there a way to add the customization without saving the document as a file ServerDocument.AddCustomization seems to work only on files...

If you can save your Word documents as XML instead of binary, then this thread might help you:

Thank you for your answer.

This is not the solution I am looking for. We are getting more and more word documents at sql server in binary format (image column) and the document(s) are handled elsewhere with VB automation. What I am trying to achieve is not to save the document at served side (iis) before sending the document to client (browser) and attach the customization 'on the fly' to the document. After that the document is either discarded or the customization is taken away and document is saved back to db.

I know that I can save the document on server, attach the customization, send the file and remove the file from server (disk). I just would not like to save the file at all at server's disk.

Hello.

You have interesting scenario. However, it is not currently possible. We may be looking more into supporting this type of scenario in the next release.

Thanks.
