When you select 'Automatically remove agent history' with the parameters 2 months, it actually removed all but 2 DAYS !

This ruined 3 of my production server job histories.

It also does not retain the parameter settings on this History page, not that i want to use this screen anymore until this parameter item is fixed.

We never had such problem on our settings.

SQL Server 2005 RTM Dec 2005 on I64 cluster

Check and test the SP1 for SQL 2005 I'm sure there are few fixes over there.

Also can you explain what was the problem by removing that history.

Unfortunetely i do not have a Itanium64 server to test SP1, my I64's are production only. I chose not to put SP1 on because of the problems that SP1 has disabling SSIS which i have running. I realize that there is now a work-around to fix SSIS after the SP1, but there was nothing in SP1 that i don't have a work-around for. Can you please research SP1 (and SP2) to see if it specifically fixes this history problem.

The history is important for trending our growth. We have been slowing running out of batch window time and we were trying to research longer running processes for performance improvement and scheduling conflicts. Now we have no research material. We run monthly, weekly, ad-hoc and daily jobs.

In this case you can export the job history to a flat file and keep it archived for history purpose.

My expectation is that the GUI screen option work correctly. I do not find exporting history to be an acceptable option, besides i have already lost my history.

Do you happen to have backup for MSDB for the last week, by chance

Steven Twitchell - MSFT

Are you using SP1 or SP2 tools to manage your RTM server by any chance

We've seen issues in that particular dialog if the version of Management Studio doesn't match the version of the server. To be safe, use the RTM tools with RTM servers, SP1 tools with SP1 servers, SP2 tools with SP2 servers.

Hope this helps,
Steve

Everything is in sync, server and tools at RTM, no SP's. Thanks everyone for looking into this. I have confirmed with someone in Redmond that this is actually a bug. The code has reversed Months and Days. They will try to include a correction in either SP2 or SP3.

Is there any know SP fix for the 2 above problems, Sharon
