If you have SQL2005 on the same box, try uninstalling that first.
Then use the MSI's in the Tools\Setup folder individually, eg CLI, VS, Support, etc before SQL.
I've installed it sucessfully this way. But it doesn't seem to come with sample DBs. And it's early days, so after all the trouble you go through to install it, you could be a little underwhelmed by the result.
Have Fun!

Hi,
I have successfully installed the SQL Server 2008 June CTP side by side an SQL Server 2005 SP 2 installation on Windows Server 2008 Beta 3. I know that SQL2000 installation does not let the SQL2008 installation package to start installing but SQL 2005 does not effect the database engine of SQL 2008 to install on the same server.
But the client tools does not install on the same computer where SQL 2005 client tools reside. So uninstalling the client components of SQL2005 may solve the problem before installing the SQL 2008 client tools.
Hi,
After some tries, I could manage installing the client tools as well.
But you have to first uninstall the SQL2005 client tools. Because clients tools are not supported for a side by side installation.
So I uninstalled the workstation components of sql2005 then restart and then finish the process by running the \tools\setup\sqlrun_tools.msi
You can read my post on http://www.kodyaz.com/blogs/software_development_blog/archive/2007/06/10/567.aspx for how I completed the installation of Katmai Client Tools
I hope this helps you too.

Please run setup.exe from the Servers folder, not from the Tools folder.
There is a known issue with running setup.exe from the Tools folder; setup.exe will not be available anymore in the Tools folder in a future CTP.
Same grief everywhere - Katmai lead to complete Vista reinstall and now an attempt to install on W2008 server Beta2 has gone pear-shaped.
Database engine installs fine then you have to uninstall sql2005 workstation components then you have to run Katmai tools setup from the setup menu - if that throws error 2xxxx then problem is down to VS installation and you have to copy devenv.exe xml config file to the VS 8 Common Tools/IDE directory
Yabadaba yabadaba - then it installs OK but the Business Intelligence Development Studio does'nt work - so you look in VS (I am running 2008) and you can view all 2005 AND Katmai db's but clicking connect comes up with another classic error - "...VS only compatible with applications up to SQL 2005.." or somesuch.
I give up, Katmai still needs a bunch of work on the workstation components and I will wait till a release later than the July CTP
