I am new to the Community and trying to install SQL 2005 Dev on a Vista client. Previously I had Express installed. I could not fully remove all the pieces. During the install or upgrade i keep getting errors for IIS. IIS is installed on the machine but it keeps errroring.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

The error message(s) would be helpful...

The IIS Error message during the SQL 2005 Dev install are generic and say little execpt that IIS is either not installed or not working. I went to the Client and looked. All the IIS componenets were installed except for the .NET and .ASP. I have not been able to get the .NET and .ASP pieces of IIS to install on Vista. I have W3 Pub service turned on.

It could be you are running the wrong Vista because some Vista comes with limited IIS7 so the link below will show you the check list. What I mean is Ultimate is the only home Vista edition that you can use for Reporting services, so if you have the correct Vista edition then go to the second link and enable all the Asp.net components you need. Hope this helps.

I am running Business, Vista. It just will not allow me to select/install .asp and .net extensibility.

I have SQL Dev 2005 installed ( ), the only problem now besides IIS is I can not get SSMS to open in Vista Business.

Open to anything. Still looking for the cheese..........
