    - Access To Dts.Variables Causes Exception Hey all...I'm pretty new to SSIS packages and things are coming along nicely. My problem is accessing variables in script tasks. I've created two variables (package scope, strings, readonly = false) - aDetailFiles and strDetailFile Within a Foreach Loop I loop through a folder.     - Property DefaultSchema is not available for Database [DatabaseName] I found the root cause of the problem you described and it seems to be a bug in SQL Server Management Studio when trying to create a schema-bound object on SQL Server 2005. The tool is internally trying to find (without success) the default schema for the user and failing. What should happen (to have the same behavior found in SQL Server 2000) is that it should create an implicit user and schema for the caller (let’s call it user1 for simplicity) and the table in the specified schema (notice that the default schema name is the same as user name). It is important to observe that at the end you end up creating an implicit user and a schema for every member of the group that creates an object in the database. In order to get the same results right now, you have two possible options: 1) Create the first object using TSQL directly: a. Click on “New Query” and connect to the right server b. Write the script to create the table and click on “Execute”, for example: use [db_Test] go CREATE TABLE [MyTable] ( data varchar ( 10 ) ) go c. If you refresh the view in Object explorer you will notice the following changes: i. Table created = [user1].[MyTable] ii. New user = [Domain\user1] iii. New schema = [Domain\user1] NOTE: At this point you can drop this “dummy” table and everything should work fine from now on for this particular user. 2) Explicitly create a user for [Domain\user1], Schema [Domain\user1] is completely optional IMPORTANT NOTE: To have an equivalent behavior, you will need to revoke the CONNECT permission on the database to [Domain\user1] (REVOKE CONNECT TO [Domain\user1]), this way the only access to the database would be via the Windows group membership and not by an explicit permission.     - Could not create Maintenance Plan James, I do not agree. On x32 cluster inst. it was not necessery to install ssis to have maintenance plans (and sql agent jobs) running. I just installed sql 2005 x64 enterprise + SP1 on a win2003 x64 r2 (non cluster) machine.     - Parameters with a union statement I have a report that is using a union statement to pull in data from two identical tables except that one is for current month, the other for archived data. What I want to do is prompt the user once for a date and use the value to select from the right table. Since a sales date can only exist in one of the tables, one union will work, the other not.     - How to convert SQL Server datetime to Oracle timestamp (or other type with similar precision)? Oracle timestamp range subsumes that of SQL Server's datetime range. So you will not have any issues as long as you use the ISO 8601 format to specify the values (YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm s.nnn). This will ensure that the value will be stored correctly irrespective of collation settings on either servers or Oracle session setttings. You can use timestamp with appropriate precision on Oracle side (timestamp(3) is closest) to match SQL Server datetime. Migrating values from Oracle to SQL Server is a different ballgame. You will lose precision, values etc. Oracle has more richer support and wider ranges & ANSI SQL implementation. Tag: Unable to connect to the remote server

    - Domain account without a SQL login account I have a situation that I have discovered in our QA database that I need to resolve. When I looked at the Activity Monitor for our server, I discovered that a process is running under a domain user account for one of our .Net applications. The problem is that that domain user account has not been created as a SQL login account on the server. I am trying to figure out how someone can log in to the database server with a domain user account that has not been added to SQL Server as a login account. Looking at your stored procedure, though, there are three results that you need to process: one update count for each INSERT, and a result set for the SELECT. In order to process all of the results from a statement that produces multiple results, you need to use Statement.execute() (not executeQuery()) in conjunction with Statement.getMoreResults(), Statement.getResultSet() and Statement.getUpdateCount().     - Advice on developing a mobile app that uses SQL 2005 CE Hi, I am new to SQL 2005 CE but fairly experienced with SQL 2000 and know my way around SQL 2005. I am creating a PDA app that must support the following scenario: My company has a SQL 2000 server with a "computer assets" database. This asset database must be able to be transferred to an .sdf file (SQL 2005 mobile) on the PDA when the user docks their PDA to the desktop PC (not the same machine as the SQL 2000 server). This transfer can be via an option in the mobile app that is initiated by the user, or automatic. The mobile application basically supports stock-taking of the assets, so users go out on site and record information about the assets. This information is stored in a separate .sdf database on the PDA. When the user gets back to the office they dock with their desktop and then must transfer the data from the second .sdf database onto the SQL 200 server. Lets call this the "asset metadata". thats basically it! but im having issues finding the right process to attack the data transfer tasks. My issues: - Firstly, how do i populate the .sdf on the PDA for development purposes Microsoft tutorials seem to be geared at SQL server 2005 management studio only. I only have SQL server 2005 Management Studio Express on my development machine as well as all the necessary SQL 2005 CE SDKs and VS2005. We do not use SQL Server 2005 at my organisation as yet and it will be some time before we migrate across. In effect im looking for something that behaves like a DTS package to transfer data across. - How to populate the "asset database" .sdf file from the SQL 2000 server when the user has docked to their desktop PC (This needs to be refreshed ) - How to transfer the "asset metadata" from the .sdf on the PDA to the SQL server ive looked at merge replication a little but am not sure whether this is what i need and again most online information seem to be tailored to SQL Server 2005.     - Folder Location Hello, We have as a part of our application installer, a section where the user has the ability to set up the database for the application. We create the database using SMO. The data files are created at a default location. What I would like to acheive is the possibility of allowing the user the ability to select a location where the files may be created. Essentially something on the lines of what is available via the enterprise manager. Something that will allow the user to explore the file system on the database server. I dont want to be doing any extensive custom work in order to acheive this feature.     - Configuration File Woes!! I have a package for which I have set ProtectionLevel to DontSaveSenstive. I connect to a SQL Database which supports mixed authentication. To connect to this server in a flexible way, I have enabled SSIS package configuration. I have edited my dtsconfig file with notepad and put the right password there (I am able to use management studio to connect to that database using same password). Now when I come back to BIDS and double click on my connection manager, it doesn't read the configuration from the config file. (it just has a blank password). So it seems that BIDS doesn't read the config file. What can I do to make BIDS read the config file. Can you verify that this is the correct virtual directory in IIS manager I can't remember if the $ in the name caused any problems. Anyway, in this CTP, RS is effectively the same as SQL 2005 SP2 so don't expect any big changes.

1. check if you are able to connect to sql server from outside of SSRS

2. Ensure that you have script enabled for the reportserver virtual directory.
