    - Inconsistencies in FOR XML and Typed XML Schemas I'm writing an extract procedure that extracts data into nested XML. This XML is then passed to another SQL 2005 database that needs to consume it. However, this is not working and below is why. I'm hoping someone has a solution. One of the fields being extracted is datetime. As I've found and read, this causes problems. However, the bigger problem is with FOR XML. The statement extracts dates in the format: 2007-02-07T18:51:29.890 A typed XML schema requires there to be a time zone on the end in the format: 2007-02-07T18:51:29.890Z In order to validate that the XML is still valid from one database to the next, I need to create a typed schema, then load the incoming XML file into a column using that schema. As I'm sure you can tell by now, it fails. There are hundreds of articles on the fact that is must be valid and can't use sqltype:datetime but rather xsd:DateTime, but why doesn't FOR XML extract it in the right format to begin with My issue is in the inconsistency in the process. I should be able to extract data using FOR XML and import it into a typed XML schema column WITH NO CHANGES OR ISSUES with the extracted data! I should also be able to do this all with T-SQL and not use any other method (including XQuery and convert) to manipulate the XML first.     - Different ways to set DATEFIRST Hi All, My week starts on Monday rather than on Sunday which is default(US, English) in SQL Server and would like to change the same so I would get proper weeknumber and dayindex using DATEPART.     - Only able to access Report Manager as Administrator I eventually found out what this was.. It was nothing to do with Windows authentication - as I suspected because the access I granted worked in SSMS, but not via the web interface. It was just that I had to add Browser access for my users via the Report Manager web interface .. on the home page/properties/New Role Assignment .. Once I did that everything worked as I had hoped. A previous installation I carried out didn't require this.. I suspect that all users were granted Browser access by default, which wasn't the case here. Thanks for your interest Chuck! But thanks to your thread, now we'll use the workaround and for the moment create a jobadmin-user and distribute it's credentials to those who are now jobadmin using their windows account. I have the Express version but now need the full tool set. I've been looking for the last half hour on Microsoft.com and elsewhere, and can find absolutely anything I could want to know about the program except how to purchase it. I feel kind of stupid, but I have to ask: where the hell do you buy this thing :-)

I`m not sure what you mean - you ask for Management Studio and there is a download link for SQL Server Management Studio Express.

Or will you buy a SQL Server Standard, Enterprise or Datacenter Edition - then you have the "normal" SQL Server Management Studio. What do you want

That is not correct you can download the Management Studio for the standard Express you are running or use the Advanced which is like other editions of SQL Server including Reporting services but you have to uninstall the standard to use the Advanced.
