Sure, we cannot complete the window/wizard for creating a DSN.
It just simply never connects. It really just seems to be Vista itself. Our XP, ME & 2000 desktops all have working DSNs just fine.
However in Vista Business Desktop we have -
1. Check and double checked our firewall settings, we have windows firewall disabled and the correct allowances in our Norton/Symantec firewall to allow odbcad32 but nothing.
2. We have working internet access, email access, ftp access and everything else on Vista desktops
3. We are logged in as administrator and go to control panel > admin tools > ODBC
4. The ODBC window pops up and we go to system DSN to create our DSN. Then we enter the server IP, DSN name, matching DSN description and the necessary username/password for the matching remote server DSN. The we get the error as I posted at the start of his thread.
5. We have tried user DSN, rebooting Vista, exiting Norton Firewall software all together.
6. The exact same settings on XP, ME, 2000 desktops connet and work just fine to a matching remote 2000 server DSN.
Anything else I can provide We are seriously sorry we ever went to Vista for our development desktops. Microsoft Australia want to charge us $390 to talk to a technician for this issue. Clearly the issue lies with Vista NOT our config or servers. They all work fine as clearly demonstrated by the other deskop platforms.
Any help greatly appreciated, funny even 90 days free tech support that comes with the software doesn't cover this issue Microsoft tell us. Simply because we are trying to connect to a remote server, what a joke.
