    - How do I automate removal of reports? here is our setup: i have a bunch of environments set up in the config mgr : uat, dev, prod, etc each one points to a different deployment folder (the 6 environments are spread over 3 physical boxes, fyi) 'overwrite datasources' is set to false (this is a project properties (pages not the properties window) setting) i deploy to each of the environments as required the first time you deploy, you will need to go and set the connection string information for the given datasources on the report server, using report manager thereafter, the deployment will NOT overwrite the datasources as per the option you set so you can deploy a report to dev, test it, ok deploy the same report to uat, test it, ok deploy to production you will never need to go and change the connection string info again after this one time configuration NB you may wish to have the configs in separate projects to avoid accidentally deploying to production! sorry it is a bit rushed, let me know if not clear Tag: How to verify installed license

    - User credentials delegation from IIS on WinXP to SQL Server on Win2003SRV fails SPN is set and registered. I think once user credentials are authenticated against IIS and primary token established identity is not being passed to connect to SQL Server. Application log event indicates "Authenticaton Type" to be "negotiate" instead of "NTLM" or "Kerberos" and 'Is Impersonated" to be "false" which leaves me to assume that double hop fails as Kerberos authentication is not the authentication type it resolves to.     - Cannot get access to my Access 2003 database tables I developed a database with Access 2003 and everything was working good until my tech came in and reformated my hard drive and install a new Ghost image that met our company standards. Now I cannot go in and make any changes to any of the tables, queries and forms. All of this started when a new Ghost image was installed on my pc.     - Shared Connections and Stored Credentials for Subscriptions? Thanks Jarret, Your right, there are so many places that you can set credentials (Viusual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio/Report Server and Report Manager) and so many options (Integerated Wondows Security, Windows log in etc) it is difficult to test thiem all when you have limited time (i.e. most of the time). I did check the "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source" check box at one stage and that seemd to help but if I re-depolyed the report and looked at the Properties/Data tab in the Report Manager, it was overwritten and set back to Integrated Windows Secuirty (the original setting for the Shared Data Source as configured in Visual Studio). Are you saying that I can't use Integrated Windows Security at all if I want configure subscriptions (I think that is what you are saying) Is the alernative to go to "Credentials" tab for the Shared Data Source and set "Use a specific user name and password" I think that I gave that a try but i was trying lots of different options in a short space of time. In the end. the main problem was the configuration on the Report Server Propertes/Data tab being changes whenever the report was re-deployed from Visual Studio (sorry the SQL Server BI Development Studio ) I am beginning to think that i need to do both of the above (paragraohs 2 and 3) Having d Tag: How to verify installed license

Believe it or not .. our development team is actually trying to use this minor issue as justification for going with Oracle on this project, because they deem this as a data integrity issue and PL/SQL does throw an error.     - SSRS Performance Hi All, I am facing an issue while working with huge data in tables. I have a stored procedure which when exceuted on SQL Server Browser takes little time to display the output on the screen. The same stored procedure is used by the application with SQL Server Reporting Services to generate the report. When executed, the application stops responding after sometime. After debugging steps by steps, I found that the dataset fetches the records from database using stored procedure takes around 11 mins and application stops responding while generating the reports. After reading through the information in your link I think I need to clarify my security set up to check its definitely the 'double hop' problem. The identity that I'm impersonating is one created for this appication to use, not specific to the user. The identity has been created as a login on my db server and a user on the db I'm connecting to. This allows me to run an SSIS package containing stored procedures only. The AD user (identity) has been given access to the role required to run the Analysis Services Processing Task which is part of my SSIS package. I change a bit my data and now I can get two and three clusters as I wish. But now I have a different question. I wish to keep my Structure and Model for further trials with different algorithm values, like cardinality. I tried the following I selected in excel Data Mining and then the option cluster button. Then in the cluster wizard I chose analysis service data source and I reform the query as I need adding only at the end where "STAFF_YES" = 1. Then I choose the needed columns and target value. Finally I select browse model, enable drill through only and I finish the wizard and get some results, rather good. But i need to try again with different parameters. I tried Business intelligent Studio to check my Analysis service.     - HOW TO DELETE OLD BACK UP FILES AND TRANSACTION LOGS IN SQL 2005 The maintenance cleanup task will work but you need to specify the folder the files are in and the appropriate extension. SP1 does have an option for "include 1st level folders" in this case it will search the folder you specify and one level down. Also I seem to remember that for the backup files or the logs I needed the / at the end of the folder specification and one of them I didn't.     - can't (re)start SQLServerAgent after changing its logon credentials Since Copy Databas Wizard failed to copy anything from remote SS20005 (both are with SP2 3054) in any combination, I changed SQLServerAgent(myinstance_name) to run under Network from Local System with the help of SQL Server Configuration Manager For this change it was restarted, failed to start again and continues to be stopped giving "SQLServerAgent could not be started (reason: Unable to connect to server '<mymachine_name>\<myinstance_name>'; SQLServerAgent cannot start)." I changed SQL Server Agent (myinstance_name) back to Local Service, then to Local System and still can't start it.     - Inconsistent OLE DB Failure when running SSIS packages I am having the same problem. I am connecting to a DB2 source and a SQL Server 2005 destination. I have 5 concurrent dataflow tasks running, 4 of those with only one table and a large amount of data, and the 5th with 22 tables with a small amount of data. All data flow tasks were created from Import Export Wizard and were copied into a single package. There is only 1 source and 1 destination connection manager. The data flow task that almost always fails is the one with 22 tables, but it has succeeded a couple times. Only two of the other data flow tasks have failed and they only fail rarely, but they only fail when the data flow with 22 tables fails. All source components have AlwaysUseDefaultCodePage = true. Don't know if you had better luck with that... but with the patches I've been using, I still get Disabled and NULL for license information.

Following this http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx scid=kb;en-us;291332 however, does correctly direct me to the SQL 2000 Licensing Setup applet in control panel, which WILL display what is currently being used.

(Now, all my instances are running on the default instance... not certain what you will get back if you have something other than the default instance.)
