It may be you have the wrong Vista edition which cannot be used to install Reporting services, try the links below for details. If the IIS in your Vista does not come with Windows Authentication then you cannot install Reporting services. It is explained in the first link by Reporting services program manager Brian.

We a re running Vista x64 Business edition, and when I installed IIS 7.0, there was an option for Windows Authentication. During IIS setup, I selected every available component, restarted the machine, and proceeded with SQL Server. I have no warnings in regards to IIS version or ASP.NET registration, however when I get to SQL components, Reporting services is not an option.

Yes it is not Windows but Express Advanced 64bits most Reporting Services features are not supported, you may get the Developer edition it retails for $34 at Provantage when I last checked. The link below covers all features with 32 or 64 bits support. Hope this helps.

We are actually having trouble setting this up for a customer. We have setup SQL Express Advanced on other 64bit Vista machines with relatively little trouble. We are installing the 32bit SQL, as we have setup the IIS to run in WOW64. This method has worked before, following these steps:

Are there common issues, missed settings, etc. that we can check for

(Note You can run the script in this article to enable the 32-bit version of ASP.NET. If you do not enable the 32-bit version of ASP.NET before you install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services or SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition, Reporting Services will not be available on the Components to Install page.)

The above is the reason and the utilities to register Asp.net is in the location below in your hard drive, I have not used the 64bit versions so you need to find how to register 32bits with 64bits versions of the utilities. Hope this helps.

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727

Prior to the following steps, we installed the 64-bit edition of IIS 7.0 with all the available components. Here are the steps we followed after that:

Install the 32-bit version of Reporting Services on a computer that is running the 64-bit version of IIS 7.0

To install the 32-bit version of Reporting Services on a computer that is running the 64-bit version of IIS 7.0, follow these steps:
1. Enable ASP.NET and IIS before you install Reporting Services.
2. Open a command prompt. To do this, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
3. In the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
4. Copy the following script:
cscript %SystemDrive%\inetpub\AdminScripts\adsutil.vbs set w3svc/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 1
5. In the upper-left corner of the Command Prompt window, right-click the command prompt icon, click Edit, and then click Paste.
6. Press ENTER to run the script.
7. Install the 32-bit version of Reporting Services. You must apply SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 (SP2) after you install Reporting Services in Windows Vista. If you install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services, you can run SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services SP2.

When we get to step 7, Reporting Services is not there.

All you have posted is for IIS, it is a server that renders HTML, Asp.net is different it is used to create applications that in the end renders HTML. In some cases you need to register it and this is one of the cases you need to go to the location in your hard drive and look at the utilities because they are many to register Asp.net in 32bits if not Reporting services will not be an option for you to choose. I ran into the problem when I was installing SQL Server in a box without IIS the option was greyed out.

Found the answer. There is no error message for the script not working correctly (there should be). We found out from our client that we did not have admin rights, so the script did not succeed, even though it said it did. Ran as admin, and
reporting services option became available.
