    - AS dont process cubes Hi, my english is very bad, so i try to explain.... We have a MOLAP structure and several jobs executing SSIS packages. This jobs yesterday and today don’t finished , just stay executing without error messages and the cubes not up to date. I stop and restart AS instance and the cubes is up to date. But i can not do this every time. I see in Event viewer and dont have any error messages. I see in other forun to disable proactive caching...is this correct ...wich problems i can have doing this ...and what i can do to resolve this problem ..     - Missing entities from sdml editing in SharePoint integration scenario I am trying to create a test Reporting Services 2005 installation on Microsoft Office Server 2007 and have downloaded the addin at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx FamilyID=1e53f882-0c16-4847-b331-132274ae8c84&DisplayLang=en and have configured it. However, I am running into a problem creating a report model sdml file. If I just create it from scratch all it asks me for is the rsds file, and generates it without any editing. When I click on the Edit dropdown in Sharepoint document library, it has "Load in Report Builder" which seems incorrect. Further when I do open the sdml file in Report Builder, it only provides me a subset of the tables that are available in the database. Several tables and views are missing. The experience seems almost the same as when trying to create a report itself rather than a report model. I also have my report development environment with Reporting Services and Visual Studio on the same server and do not have problems seeing the missing table and views. Thanks.     - Data flow based on a DSV The steps to use a DSV: Add a data source to your project. Add a DSV based on the data source. In your package, add a connection manager by choosing New Connection from Data Source. Choose the data source you created in step 1 (not the DSV). In a component or task that requires a connection (Execute SQL, for example), click the drop-down for specifying the connection manager. You should see the data source you created. If you click the plus sign to expand it, you should see the DSV listed underneath it. Select the DSV to use it in this component. A little complicated, but hopefully that will work for you.     - expression problem count disctinct Hi Vinnie, If you just want to display count distinct result in a textbox, the only way you can do is to have another dataset. For example: let’s say you have dataset1 and dataset2 , and in dataset1, you have SQL query like “Select Count (Distinct A.a) As Count1 From A Where A.Type=0”. And in dataset2, SQL query is like “Select Count (Distinct A.a) As Count2 From A where A.type=1”. In Layout view, in textbox1, use the expression like “ =First(Fields!Count1.Value, "dataset1"). Also, in textbox2, use the expression like “=First(Fields!Count2.Value, "dataset2")”. In conclusion, we have dataset do the distinct calculate, but not Report Designer. I hope this helps. Thanks.     - How to configure Smo.Scripter to get desired sprocs Hi, I've developed a sproc generator using SMO types and all works fine except when I want to generate sprocs prefaced by a drop statement. To do this I create an instance of the Scripter object and set it's options.ScriptDrops property to true ( instance.options.ScriptDrops = true). When options.ScriptDrops = true the output omits the actual stored procedure from the scriopt. When I comment out scriptDrops = true it works correctly.     - Turning off validation I need to turn off validation and I've seen some threads saying this is not possible but my situation has a twist. A customer needs the package to connect to different modem dialup connections to connect to different servers (they use dialup for security reasons). We have written two VB script tasks at the beginning and end of a loop, with data flows in between. Before the loop the dialup connection info is read into a recordset along with Data Source connection information. The first script uses this information to dialup and the last script hangs up the connection. The problem is the package tries to validate the data connections and the package has not dialed up yet, so it fails. We managed to confirm it works in a test environment by putting a break in the first script, manually VPNing into the test network (to allow validation of the data flow to work), and then manually disconnecting from VPN during the break. The script dials in and pumps the data. But this won't be an option in production. So if anyone has figured out a way to turn off validation, great. Otherwise, any ideas to make this work I was thinking about setting up a dummy connection that would be connected outside the package before running just for validation (and then the script would disconnect to begin, but I would prefer to handle all of this within SSIS.     - Problem with package.Execute passing variables I'm in the same position as Rafael here, but I do see that you can assign expressions to properties in the Bulk Insert Task... At least the GUI lets you use expressions for properties of the Bulk Insert task. Are you sure the variables are scoped correctly Have you captured the TableName variable in SSIS to ensure that you are getting the correct results I wouldn't think it would matter, but normally when I select a table from a drop down box, I get just the table name. When I selected a table in the Bulk Insert task, I got the fully qualified name for the table... Would that matter So, "database.dbo.table_name" is what showed up.     - Conditional checks in SSIS. I think I might be getting what you guys are trying to convey. So here is what I did. I added a Sequence Container. 1. I added a Execute Sql Task to it which brings the GenderKey from Prod and puts it in a Variable using the following query .. SELECT [User::GenderKey_Prod] = ISNULL(MAX(GenderKey) ,0) FROM dbo.DIM_Gender 2. I added another Execute Sql Task which brings the GenderKey from Staging and puts it in another Variable using following query .. SELECT [User::GenderKey_Stg] = MIN(dg.GenderKey) FROM medical.Fact_Claim mfc INNER JOIN dbo.Dim_Patient dp ON dp.PatientKey = mfc.PatientKey INNER JOIN dbo.Dim_Gender dg ON dp.GenderKey = dg.GenderKey WHERE mfc.TaskID = I added the connector from Prod to Stg (1 -> 2). 3. Then added another data flow task (which will actually transfer the data). 4. And added a connector from STG to this data (2 -> 3) flow task and on this connector I defined the expression check @ [User::GenderKey_Prod] < @ [User::GenderKey_Stg] which if true, will execute the data flow task. All this makes sense, however, I am having troubles on step 2. Where condition task a parameter called TaskId, this parameter is a Package Level parameter I have added. I did the parameter mapping, but it keeps giving error on this step says 'Parameter Name is Unrecognized'.     - Problems trying to insert data into the database using excel Hi all, I have encountered a problem. In the past i run a sql query to select all the data from the excel file and insert them into my SQL database. However recently i encountered an error when i run the query. Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 4 The OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "excel_ls" reported an error. The provider did not give any information about the error.     - Is Full-Text Index really that much overhead? If you really NEED a full text index, then the way to go is probably SQL Server, instead of "inventing your own". You will never be able to match the speed of the full text index on SQL server, if the data you are indexing is on SQL server in the first place. How would you do it if not in SQL Server You would retrieve each field from SQL Server and search it on the web server. This is VERY process heavy. And I would assume you are doing it on your WEB/Cold Fusion server, which should not need as much processor, memory, etc as the SQL Server. With that said, the overhead is very high for a full text index. But if you need it, you will have overhead either way. Tag: Checkboxes in Reporting Services?

    - SP to search on any number of characters I would like to know if someone would know how to write a Stored Procedure (using Select statement) to search on a partial word, for instance, like "micro", for Microsoft Office, Microsoft Communicator, etc. or an ordered number of characters, that are unique, like "obe", and will retrieve, ad"obe" or adobe. I'm using SQL 2005 and I'm running the search against a DB called platform_validation_tool and the table's name is dbo.software. The important column names that I want to retrieve this data on are Name(which would be the simple name like Microsoft Office Communicator) and software_package(which would be a Tivoli package name from the registry stored in this column with the name like "Microsoft_Office_Communicator_2005_XP2K_I8^1.0.0.0.5). I know you can use the clause WHERE NAME LIKE '%microsoft%' would retrieve all microsoft software packages. I'll assume you would have to setup parameters and concatenate them or something like that.     - cluster install 2nd node unavailable Satya, I know the mentioned kb article. I'm not a newbe in installing sql server clusters, have done it a dozent times (x32) but never had troubles like this. At the beginning setupjob checks BOTH nodes for possible installation. All looks fine there! As mentioned already non of the logs (eventlog, clusterlog, sql inst. log) shows anything unusual or error (in my eyes). Prerequisits and pre installation steps are all done... The funny thing is installing a sql 2000 (x32) cluster would work (so there could nothing be wrong with the cluster inst.) Tag: Checkboxes in Reporting Services?

Is it possible to have a checkbox as a parameter.. So a user can check a box to include a column or uncheck to hide a column

Hello Neil,

I don't believe there is a way to get a checkbox in the parameters section. Would True/False radio buttons work for you If so, you can use the Boolean type for your parameter.

Yes radio buttons could work... Although I have just made a parameter boolean but it still rendered as a drop down..

Is there anything specifically I need to do to make the parameter a radio button

What version of Reporting Services are you using

You should be able to set your parameter to Boolean without any available values and it should show radio buttons. Make sure you don't have Multi-value selected either.
