    - SSIS SCript Transform Parallelism Hi, I need some urgent help on a conceptual question. Requirement: I have a simple package with one dataflow task. In that I need to read from a sql table and for every row in that table loop through n times and generate new output rows based on certain conditions (which are best evaluated in custom script as they are rather complex). Hence, if I have 100 rows in the table as my input, I may end up with 100*n rows as output. My Design: To implement this I have used an OLE DB Source which outputs to a Script Transform (ST). In the ST I intend to loop through in custom code and generate new rows using the .AddRow feature when I need new rows. This ST then feeds into another OLE DB Destination which writes the data to the table. Simple! I am using the default buffer settings. All I have tweaked is the Synchronous... property on the script transform (otherwise I do not get to the Output0Buffer within the script!). Problem: I wish to do as much as possible in parallel. So I would expect the OLE DB Source to provide more than one row at a time to the script transform and that should process more than one input row simultaneously. It seems the script componenet is serializing input, so it seems to take one row at a time from the OLE DB source, loop through and process in the script transform).     - Programatically adding a Timeout value for BulkInsertTask? I've searched around for a while and can't seem to find out how/where I set the timeout on a bulk insert task programmatically. Here is a snippet of code that works as long as the input file is pretty small....when I attempted to pump 1.3 million rows through the default timeout value was not big enough and a timeout exception occurred.     - Parameter Valid Values I may have misunderstood your question, but it sounds like you are asking why "Book C" is disabled and does not show any values until both "Book A" and "Book B" have been populated. From your description, C depends on B which depends on A. In this case, RS cannot generate the lists of valid values or default values for C without having values for B because those expressions/queries reference B.     - Problem attaching DB from Network Share Your sqlserver service account must have permission to the network share. By default LocalSystem does not have access to anything on the network. So check your startup account and grant it appropriate permission. You will need FULL right to the network share because sqlserver must be able to take exclusive lock on the files when loading them.     - Algorithm used to encrypt password in sysxlogin Sometimes we don’t have “officially” documentation because of honest mistakes in the process and the intended documentation doesn’t exist at all, in such cases I encourage everyone to give us the proper feedback and we will open bugs for our BOL and try to get them fixed (not always possible due to resource limitations, and I apologize for that); but in other occasions some parts of a feature are not documented on purpose for good reason: if necessary, we reserve the rights to change the implementation. As Laurentiu mentioned in his article, previous versions of the algorithm were different, and even opened the possibility for attempting to break the passwords via the case-insensitive hashes (as documented by David Litchfield). If the password algorithm would have been fully documented and supported, we may be still in the need to face the same documented weakness in favor of backwards compatibility (probably with some obscure knob to disable), as some applications may still be using it and we would need to go through the (painful) deprecation process. On the other hand, we don’t believe in security by obscurity, and whenever we have the opportunity some members of the SQL Server team (and sometimes even former members of the team, kudos to Laurentiu for all his help) like to “unofficially” document some features according to our customers feedback or questions in the forums and/or our msdn blogs or when we believe it is useful information that should be documented, but for some reason is not officially documented. While information on our blogs is not considered “official”, at least I know Laurentiu and I try to validate it and make sure the information and samples we provide are valid (and hopefully useful) because we are trying to help the SQL Server community.     - Help!- Image display problem with SSRS report in IE 6 I have a report that has both data and graph. I call the SSRS API to get the report in MHTML format and use Response.BinaryWrite to output the resultant byte array. I also set the Response.ContentType = "message/rfc822". The browser renders the data correctly but shows the image as blank I have also tried setting the above to "multipart/related".. but this doesn't work as well.     - "Select all" as default for a multi-value parameter which source is non-query When you said static, do you mean that you have put the values in the Report Parameters instead of getting the values from a dataset If that is the case, you can do this. Enter "Select All" as the label, and then enter "%" in the value in the report parameters section. In the default value parameters, just put % and it will always default to "select all" If you got the values from a stored procedure, do the following:- 1) first go to the dataset and type the following :- "Select 'Select All' as [nameoflabel], '%' as [nameofvalue] Union" Followed by the text that got the values for you. No, currently there is no way to disable the prompt to save unsaved changes in the T-SQL script editor.

You can submit suggestions for Management Studio functionality at http://connect.microsoft.com/sqlserver. We use customer feedback like this when we are prioritizing future work.
