    - The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'tblName', database 'dbName', schema 'dbo' Hi, I'm in need of a few more pointers when it comes to SQL Server 2005 Security setup for accessing a database through IIS web services. There's loads of great advise in these forums which I've followed so pls forgive me if I've missed a post that finally resolves this. I know I'm so close but it feels so very far... Anyhow, here's the set up: - Server 2003 / SQL Server 2005 / .NET 2.0 / Visual Studio 2005 / Client XP PC The story so far: - Built an ASPX website in VS2005 on a client PC that connects to a SQL2005 db. No probs during development. - Copied website to WS2005 & configured IIS accordingly. No probs browsing non-db webpages. The problem: As soon as I browse to a page that extracts data from the db I get the following error message.. [SqlException (0x80131904): The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'tbl_location', database 'SmartDMA', schema 'dbo'.] ...plus a whole load of code that I've seen plastered over lots of forums. My configurations: - The website is in the default SQL Application Pool that has the identity set to 'Predifed : Network Service' (as I'd previously has a similar error; SQLException (blah blah): Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection ) - IIS Website ASP.NET is v2.0.50727 - Website Authentication Methods / Enable Anonymous Access (ticked) Username: IUSR_SERVERNAME Password: *********. Intergration Windows Authentication (ticked). - SQL Server Mngt, Secuirty / Logins / NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE lists the db in question with dbo as the Default Schema & public ticket as the db role membership. - connectionString = " Data Source=SERVERNAME;Initial Catalog=DBNAME;Integrated Security=true " providerName = " System.Data.SqlClient " /> What I've tried already based on forums advise: - Changing Server Properties to SQL Server & Windows Authentication mode. - Rather than using Integrated Security I've tried the SQL 'sa' account, but not 100% is I did that right (still got the same error anyway). The rest of the advise I've read appears to confirm the rest of my settings, but I'm still getting the error. Can anyone please shed any light on what I'm missing here. You're not understanding what I wrote. It looks like you've got it setup okay. When you run the package, it should pick up the correct value. I've created two variables (package scope, strings, readonly = false) - aDetailFiles and strDetailFile Within a Foreach Loop I loop through a folder. All this developers belong to network group "A". We associated this group to db_owner role in database "B" and thought it would be enough to configure the desired permission in the db. The problem is when some developer (belong to group "A") tries to create a table in the db "B", get's the error: "Property DefaultSchema is not available for Database 'B'. This property may not exist for this object, or may not be retrivable due to insufficient rights. (SQLEditors)". We tried then to configure the DefaultSchema for the group, but are unable to, because of the behaviour you refered earlier. So, in this situation, how can I configure a specific network group to be db_owner (or have some other role) Is it possible in SQL Server 2005 Don't tell me we have to configure all users, one by one...     - Printing in Reporting Services hangs Am having exactly the same problem as described - Report Services hangs on Print or Preview.. It used to work a few months ago - now exactly as described... *** We can print to files without issue - only when we try to print to a real printer does it hang forever. It doesn't matter how big the report is, 100 pages or 1/4 of a page, same problem. We do the following: 1) Run the report 2) Click the print button 3) Select a printer and press ok 4) "Printing Now..." dialog box appears 5) "Print Error" dialog appears and never goes away - and nothing is printed out. Have to close IE and crash the report session to get out of it. This is the result on every client computer we have ever used in trying to access the report server. The information in this thread is a bit misleading...I am getting this error on the local, default instance, and have the client tools installed. SSIS, therefore, was obviously installed as well. What I want to do is prompt the user once for a date and use the value to select from the right table. Since a sales date can only exist in one of the tables, one union will work, the other not.     - What is the best most efficient performant way to do a Control break in SSIS? My original conditional split idea didn��t work because there would need to be a one for one delay on the record processing. I though I could pull this off with the merge join built-in blocking but them I would have to sort and I could have possibly used the sequence numbers on the input file as a sort, but decided not too perhaps later. Not sure if your idea will work because the splits of the transaction types happen at the same time. There would be no way to associate the type 30 record with the correct type 20 record.     - Folder Location Hello, We have as a part of our application installer, a section where the user has the ability to set up the database for the application. We create the database using SMO. The data files are created at a default location. What I would like to acheive is the possibility of allowing the user the ability to select a location where the files may be created. Essentially something on the lines of what is available via the enterprise manager. Something that will allow the user to explore the file system on the database server. I dont want to be doing any extensive custom work in order to acheive this feature.     - Configuration File Woes!! I have a package for which I have set ProtectionLevel to DontSaveSenstive. I connect to a SQL Database which supports mixed authentication. To connect to this server in a flexible way, I have enabled SSIS package configuration. I have edited my dtsconfig file with notepad and put the right password there (I am able to use management studio to connect to that database using same password). Now when I come back to BIDS and double click on my connection manager, it doesn't read the configuration from the config file. (it just has a blank password). So it seems that BIDS doesn't read the config file. What can I do to make BIDS read the config file. I got rid of the .rdl.data files, which apparently has been a successful fix for this problem in the past. Everything worked fine Thursday when I left (I was off Friday - Saturday), but today I get this error for all but one of the reports in the solution when I try to preview the report. BTW, the published stuff works fine. Thanks in advance for any help.

One thing it might help you is to see if there are any diffrences of your local rdl file compared with the publised one I hope you know how to get the rdl out of the published report.

The thing that's wierd is that everything was working fine Thursday, and no one else logs onto this computer when I'm not here.

That's usual in development. it used to work earlier but not any more :-)

Your RDL may not have changed. But the data might have changed which might be causing this issue. (that's just a guess).

Yeah, that's why I blew away the .rdl.data files. Who'd'a thunk the DATA would cause the PROGRAM to fall over -- 'specially when the data I'm selecting for the sample report has already been processed by this program in the past. Ah, Microsoft.

Well I determined that the problem is associated with the parameters. Any report requiring no parms runs fine. Deleting & reentering the parms has no effect. At least, I know I've been chasing the wrong problem.
